Pro12Ala and His447His polymorphisms of PPAR-γ are associated with polycystic ovary syndrome

open access: yesReproductive BioMedicine Online, 2009
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that affects 4-12% of women of reproductive age, and is specified when two of the three following criteria are present: hyperandrogenism, oligomenorrhoea and polycystic ovary morphology by ultrasonography. PCOS is characterized by infertility, obesity and hyperinsulinaemia.

Effects of PPARγ and RBP4 gene variants on metabolic syndrome in HIV-infected patients with anti-retroviral therapy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundPPARγ and RBP4 are known to regulate lipid and glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. The influences of PPARγ (C1431T and Pro12Ala) and RBP4 (-803GA) polymorphisms on metabolic syndrome in HIV-infected patients receiving anti-retroviral ...

Interaction between genes and lifestyle factors on obesity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Obesity originates from a failure of the body-weight control systems, which may be affected by changing environmental influences. Basically, the obesity risk depends on two important mutually-interacting factors: (1) genetic variants (single-nucleotide ...

PPARγ Pro12Ala and His447His polymorphisms and susceptibility to Alzheimer’s disease: a meta-analysis

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2015
We investigated whether Pro12Ala (C→G) and His447His (C→T) polymorphisms of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) gene are associated with susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease (AD). We conducted a meta-analysis of the associations between the PPARγ Pro12Ala and His447His polymorphisms and AD in subjects.

Pharmacogenetics in Type 2 Diabetes: Potential Implications for Clinical Practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pharmacogenetic research aims to study how genetic variation may influence drug efficacy and/or toxicity; pharmacogenomics expands this quest to the entire genome. Pharmacogenetic findings may help to uncover new drug targets, illuminate pathophysiology,

Influence of the body mass and visceral adiposity on glucose metabolism in obese women with Pro12Pro genotype in PPARgamma2 gene. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Glucose metabolism may be altered in obesity and genotype for PPAR 2 can influence this variable. Objective: To evaluate the influence of body mass (BM) and visceral adiposity (VA) in glucose metabolism in morbid obese women with Pro12Pro ...

Genotyping of PPAR-γ gene polymorphism in Egyptian neonates affected with sepsis disease and its severity

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Medical Human Genetics, 2018
Background: Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor gamma (PPARγ) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor involved in inflammatory process. PPAR-γ gene was mentioned as having a modulating role in the pathological status of sepsis. The present study
