The PPARG Pro12Ala Polymorphism and 20-year Cognitive Decline: Race and Sex Heterogeneity. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimer Dis Assoc Disord, 2018
Previous reports suggest race/ethnic and sex heterogeneity in the association between the Pro12Ala polymorphism of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG) gene and cognitive decline. Tests of verbal memory, processing speed, and verbal fluency and a composite global Z-score were used to assess cognitive performance longitudinally ...

The PPAR  Pro12Ala polymorphism and risk for incident sporadic colorectal adenomas [PDF]

open access: bronzeCarcinogenesis, 2004
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma), a member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily initially shown to be a key regulator of fat cell differentiation, can inhibit cell growth and induce apoptosis in colon cell lines.

The Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-γ2 Pro12Ala Polymorphism [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes, 2002
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-γ is a transcription factor with a key role in adipocyte differentiation. The Ala allele of the common Pro12Ala polymorphism in the isoform PPAR-γ2 is associated with reduced risk for type 2 diabetes. The effect on the individual is weak, but because of a prevalence of >75% of the high-risk Pro ...

Pro12Ala polymorphism in PPAR-gamma2 and dementia in Chinese nonagenarians/centenarians. [PDF]

open access: yesAge (Dordr), 2010
We examined the existence of a relationship between polymorphism and dementia in subjects aged 90 years and above. The sample included 732 unrelated Chinese nonagenarians/centenarians (aged 90-108 years, mean age 93.68 years; 67.5% women). The Pro12Ala variant was examined using polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism ...

Effect of Pesticides on Peroxisome Proliferator‐Activated Receptors (PPARs) and Their Association with Obesity and Diabetes

open access: yesPPAR Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Obesity and diabetes mellitus are considered the most important diseases of the XXI century. Recently, many epidemiological studies have linked exposure to pesticides to the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The role of pesticides and their possible influence on the development of these diseases was investigated by examining the ...

Molecular Dynamics Simulation and Essential Dynamics of Deleterious Proline 12 Alanine Single‐Nucleotide Polymorphism in PPARγ2 Associated with Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesPPAR Research, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Background. Peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor‐γ (PPARγ) gene is located at 3p25 position. PPARγ functions as the master regulator of glucose homeostasis and lipoprotein metabolism, and recent studies have reported that it is involved in various metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease (CAD), and ...

Relationship between PPAR‐γ gene polymorphisms and ischemic stroke risk: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 11, Issue 12, December 2021., 2021
Ischemic strokes (IS) are one of the most common diseases resulting in disabilities and death among adults. Our meta‐analysis indicated that the individuals with G mutation of rs1801282 C/G polymorphism would face an increased risk of IS. But there was no significant association between rs3856806 C/T polymorphism and IS risk.
