Progesterone Receptor in Cystosarcoma Phyllodes
Archives of Surgery, 1977A specific receptor for progesterone has been found in a cystosarcoma phyllodes, as determined by charcoal adsorption and sucrose gradient analysis. Similar assays for estrogen receptors were negative. The tumor consisted almost entirely of stroma that contained the progesterone receptors.

Estrogen and progesterone receptors
1991One of the most prevalent of all cancers, breast cancer, is characterized by hormonal control of its growth. In cell culture, the control of proliferation and differentiation of human breast cancer cells involves steriod hormones, peptide hormones, and growth factors [1–6]; however, epidemiological and clinical findings suggest that the major stimulus ...

Progesterone Receptor Interaction with Chromatin
2014Understanding how eukaryotic gene regulation works implies unraveling the mechanisms used by transcription factors to access DNA information packaged in chromatin. The current view is that different cell types express different parts of the genome because they are equipped with different sets of transcription factors.

Progesterone Receptor Signaling Mechanisms
Journal of Molecular Biology, 2016Progesterone receptor (PR) is a master regulator in female reproductive tissues that controls developmental processes and proliferation and differentiation during the reproductive cycle and pregnancy. PR also plays a role in progression of endocrine-dependent breast cancer.

Activation of Progesterone Receptor by ATP
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1981Progesterone-receptor complex from freshly prepared hen oviduct cytosol acquired the ability to bind to isolated nuclei, DNA-cellulose and ATP-Sepharose when incubated with 5-10 mM ATP at 4 degrees C. The extent of this ATP-dependent activation was higher when compared with heat-activation achieved by warming the progesterone-receptor complex at 23 ...

Progesterone Receptor or Cytoskeletal Protein?
Reproductive Sciences, 2007Immunoblotting is used to characterize the various nuclear progesterone receptor (nPR) isoforms present in tissues; however, the success of this technique is dependent on the specificity of the primary nPR antibody. The authors investigate the specificity of a frequently used nPR antibody, sc-538, in total protein from human myometrium and a myometrial

Chaperones in progesterone receptor complexes
Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2000Studying the components, pathways, and dynamics of progesterone receptor (PR) assembly with chaperones has provided a highly valuable model system for understanding the coordinate actions of chaperones. Chaperones are primarily adapted to facilitate protein folding processes, and the actions of chaperones toward PR and other steroid receptors probably ...

Progesterone Receptors of Chick Oviduct
1978The chick oviduct progesterone receptor has been purified to homogeneity by affinity chromatography and its molecular action studied in vitro. The native receptor is a 200,000 MW dimer of two dissimilar 4S subunits with different intranuclear function.
