Physicochemical and emulsifying properties of mung bean protein isolate as influenced by succinylation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2018
The application of mung bean protein in foods is limited due to its poor functionality. Acylation with succinic anhydride could be used to improve the functionalities of protein.

Improvement of plant resistance to geminiviruses via protein de-S-acylation

open access: yesStress Biology
Geminiviruses are an important group of viruses that infect a variety of plants and result in heavy agricultural losses worldwide. The homologs of C4 (or L4) in monopartite geminiviruses and AC4 (or AL4) in bipartite geminiviruses are critical viral ...

Stearoyl-Acyl Carrier Protein and Unusual Acyl-Acyl Carrier Protein Desaturase Activities Are Differentially Influenced by Ferredoxin [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2000
Abstract Acyl-acyl carrier protein (ACP) desaturases function to position a single double bond into an acyl-ACP substrate and are best represented by the ubiquitous Δ9 18:0-ACP desaturase. Several variant acyl-ACP desaturases have also been identified from species that produce unusual monoenoic fatty acids.

Bioinformatics and Expression Profiling of the DHHC-CRD S-Acyltransferases Reveal Their Roles in Growth and Stress Response in Woodland Strawberry (Fragaria vesca)

open access: yesPlants
Protein S-acyl transferases (PATs) are a family of enzymes that catalyze protein S-acylation, a post-translational lipid modification involved in protein membrane targeting, trafficking, stability, and protein–protein interaction.

Overview of Encapsulated Lysine and Methionine and Their Impacts on Transition Cow Performance and Health

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The transition period in dairy cows, spanning 3 weeks before and after calving, is a critical phase characterized by increased nutrient demands, reduced dry matter intake (DMI), and elevated risk of metabolic disorders such as negative nutrient balance (NNB), lipolysis, proteolysis, and oxidative stress.

S-acylation dependent post-translational cross-talk regulates large conductance calcium- and voltage- activated potassium (BK) channels

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
Mechanisms that control surface expression and/or activity of large conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK) channels are important determinants of their (patho)physiological function.

Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Synthesis of an Enzyme‐Triggered Chitosan‐Based Drug Delivery System for Peri‐Implantitis Prevention

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dental implants have become a leading solution for tooth loss, yet bacterial infections remain a major complication. Antibacterial implant coatings are an important approach to reduce or prevent bacterial infections at the implant. Given the oral cavity's complex microbiome and the importance of some commensal bacteria, it is crucial to ...

ACBD6 protein controls acyl chain availability and specificity of the N-myristoylation modification of proteins[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2019
Members of the human acyl-CoA binding domain-containing (ACBD) family regulate processes as diverse as viral replication, stem-cell self-renewal, organelle organization, and protein acylation.
