PARENTERAL PROTEIN DIGESTION

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1914
INTRODUCTION The units of life in our bodies are the cells of which our organs and tissues are composed. In order that we may be in health, all the cells of our bodies must be in normal condition and must function in harmony. Inasmuch as these cells are living, growing and multiplying, they must have a supply of normal food, and since these cells are ...

Protein Digestion Techniques

2002
Modern MS instruments are capable of measuring the molecular weights of intact proteins with a fairly high degree of accuracy. So why not do proteomics simply by measuring the masses of intact proteins? Unfortunately, intact mass measurements are of relatively little use for three reasons. First, as good as MS instruments are, there are still errors in

Digestibility of Processed Food Protein

1991
An overview is given on the effects of food processing on the protein digestibility. Beneficial effects of food processing are primarily observed in a range of plant foods containing toxic substances and/or anti-nutrients (legumes, cereals, some seed food). Digestibilities improve by heating, soaking, germination and fermentation.

Digestion in Parasitic Nematodes. III. The Digestion of Proteins

Journal of Helminthology, 1941
Tryptic-like enzymes have been extracted from the intestines and intestinal contents of Ascarts lumbricoides and Strongylus edentatus. The action of these enzymes, in relation to hydrogen ion concentration, has been examined. The parasite trypsins resembled pancreatic trypsin in that the relative production of “free acid” and “formaldehyde acid” was ...
