Positive modulation of glucagon‐like peptide 1 (GLP‐1) receptor by endogenous haemorphins with implications in glucose metabolism and diabetes

Haemorphins act on GLP‐1 receptor (GLP‐1R) activity and signalling in a positive allosteric manner. This leads to potentiated GLP‐1‐mediated activity and signalling, as well as insulin synthesis, which may have implications for glucose metabolism and, thereby, diabetes and obesity. Effects of GLP‐1 agonists on the gut microbiota in type 2 diabetes mellitus: a systematic review

This systematic review evaluated 17 studies (12 preclinical and five clinical) on GLP‐1 receptor agonists in type 2 diabetes, demonstrating effects on the gut microbiota and metabolic improvement. The studies showed an increase in Bacteroidetes, Lactobacillus, and Akkermansia, and a reduction in Firmicutes.

A chemo‐enzymatic colorimetric cascade for detecting ethylene glycol contamination

A chemo‐enzymatic cascade is developed for ethylene glycol (EG) detection. EG is oxidized by GoADH with C1‐mediated cofactor recycling to produce glycolaldehyde (GAL). GAL subsequently reacts with purpald to generate a detectable purple chromophore.

GSK3α‐mediated regulation of the RNA demethylase fat mass and obesity‐associated protein (FTO) during murine spermatogenesis

FTO regulates mRNA stability and translational efficiency through its m6A‐demethylation activity. GSK3 functions as an upstream regulator of FTO, leading to its inhibition via phosphorylation. In male germ cells, FTO activity is kept in check by GSK3α.
