ADAMTS proteinases: a multi-domain, multi-functional family with roles in extracellular matrix turnover and arthritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Members of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) family are known to influence development, angiogenesis, coagulation and progression of arthritis.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

The Potential for Trypsin Inhibitor Expression in Leaves to Convey Herbivory Deterrence in Soybean

open access: yesPlants
Soybean (Glycine max) is the most widely grown legume crop in the world, providing important economic value. Pest herbivory damage by insects and mammalian wildlife, in particular the white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), limits yields in soybean ...

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

The major neutral proteinase of Entamoeba histolytica. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
FPLC anion-exchange and chromatofocusing chromatography were used to purify the major neutral proteinase from secretions of axenically cultured Entamoeba histolytica trophozoites.

Proteinase inhibitors: another new fold [PDF]

open access: yesStructure, 1994
The three-dimensional descriptions of two serine proteinase inhibitors from the parasitic worm Ascaris--one in solution and the other in a complex with its substrate--reveal a new structural motif.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Proteinase-Activated Receptor-2–Triggered Prostaglandin E2 Release, but Not Cyclooxygenase-2 Upregulation, Requires Activation of the Phosphatidylinositol 3–Kinase / Akt / Nuclear Factor-κB Pathway in Human Alveolar Epithelial Cells

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2009
Proteinase-activated receptor-2 (PAR2) triggers upregulation of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) formation in human alveolar epithelial A549 cells.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
