A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...

Activation of Metal Complexes With Ultrasound Waves for Targeted Anticancer Therapy
Ultrasound enables non‐invasive activation of metal‐based therapeutics deep within tumors. Acoustic cavitation can drive sonodynamic reactive oxygen species generation or mechanochemical metal–ligand bond dissociation, enabling controlled release of bioactive payloads.

Selective accumulation of hematoporphyrin derivative in glioma through proton-coupled folate transporter SLC46A1. [PDF]
The mechanism of tumor-specific porphyrin accumulation is not clear. We investigated the expression of proton-coupled folate transporter SLC46A1 in glioma and aimed to clarify the relationship between tumor fluorescence and SLC46A1 expression. We confirmed the expression of SLC46A1 in surgical specimens from 24 glioma patients by immunohistochemistry ...

Experimentally Defined Structural Model of the Human Proton-Coupled Folate Transporter [PDF]
Folate cofactors, Vitamin B9, play crucial roles in more than a hundred one-carbon metabolism reactions in mammalian cells. Humans cannot synthesize folates de novo and absorption through the diet is the only source of this vitamin. The proton-coupled folate transporter (PCFT) mediates this uptake in the upper small intestine by a pH-dependent process.

ABSTRACT Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has emerged as the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide, closely linked to the global rising incidence of obesity and metabolic syndrome. This review synthesizes current evidence on the pathogenesis, gut–liver axis, and multidisciplinary management of MASLD within the ...

Topology of Human Proton-Coupled Folate Transporter Expressed in E. Coli [PDF]
The proton-coupled folate transporter (PCFT) is an important membrane protein involved in the absorption of folates in humans. Folic acid is considered a vitamin that plays important roles in crucial one carbon transfer reactions. Folates are especially important for processes where DNA synthesis is involved, as for example fetal development and cancer.
