Transmissible gastroenteritis virus: Identification of M protein-binding peptide ligands with antiviral and diagnostic potential [PDF]
The membrane (M) protein is one of the major structural proteins of coronavirus particles. In this study, the M protein of transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) was used to biopan a 12-mer phage display random peptide library.

A novel non-mineral oil-based adjuvant. II. Efficacy of a synthetic sulfolipopolysaccharide in a squalane-in-water emulsion in pigs [PDF]
The adjuvanticity of a sulfolipopolysaccharide (SLP) incorporated into a squalane-in-water emulsion (SLP/S/W) was compared with that of a mineral oil-in-water (O/W) adjuvant currently used in commercial porcine vaccines.

The study in this paper found that activating the α2A receptors of astrocytes in the thoracic spinal cord can reduce the release of inflammatory factors, thereby decreasing the necroptosis of GABAergic neurons and consequently alleviating myocardial injury caused by sepsis.

Pseudorabies Virus Induces Viability Changes and Oxidative Stress in Swine Testis Cell-Line [PDF]
In this study, we evaluated the association between pseudorabies (PRV) virus-induced viability changes and oxidative stress in vitro cultivated swine testis (ST) cells.

Porcine innate and adaptative immune responses to influenza and coronavirus infections [PDF]
Both innate and adaptative immune responses contribute to the control of infectious diseases, including by limiting the spreading of zoonotic diseases from animal reservoirs to humans.

An Overview of Live Attenuated Recombinant Pseudorabies Viruses for Use as Novel Vaccines
Pseudorabies virus (PRV) is a double-stranded, DNA-based swine virus with a genome approximating 150 kb in size. PRV has many nonessential genes which can be replaced with genes encoding heterologous antigens but without deleterious effects on virus ...

The strong enhancer element in the immediate early region of the human cytomegalovirus genome [PDF]
The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), a member of the herpesvirus group, was found to possess a strong transcription enhancer in the immediate early gene region. Co-transfection of enhancerless SV40 DNA with randomly fragmented HCMV DNA yielded two SV40-

Physicochemical Properties of Pseudorabies Virus Hemagglutinin.
Pseudorabies virus hemagglutinin was readily adsorbed on mouse erythrocytes at 4, 22, or 37 degrees C, but not on cattle erythrocytes. The adsorbed hemagglutinin could not be eluted from the cells by resuspending in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), by incubating at 37 or 50 degrees C, or by incubating in the presence of neuraminidase.

A proposal for a coordinated effort for the determination of brainwide neuroanatomical connectivity in model organisms at a mesoscopic scale [PDF]
In this era of complete genomes, our knowledge of neuroanatomical circuitry remains surprisingly sparse. Such knowledge is however critical both for basic and clinical research into brain function. Here we advocate for a concerted effort to fill this gap,
