Functional Disruption of a Chloroplast Pseudouridine Synthase Desensitizes Arabidopsis Plants to Phosphate Starvation [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Phosphate (Pi) deficiency is a common nutritional stress of plants in both agricultural and natural ecosystems. Plants respond to Pi starvation in the environment by triggering a suite of biochemical, physiological, and developmental changes that ...

iRNA-PseU: Identifying RNA pseudouridine sites

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2016
As the most abundant RNA modification, pseudouridine plays important roles in many biological processes. Occurring at the uridine site and catalyzed by pseudouridine synthase, the modification has been observed in nearly all kinds of RNA, including ...

Crystal Structure of Human Pus10, A Novel Pseudouridine Synthase

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 2007
Pseudouridine (Psi) synthases catalyze the formation of one or more specific Psis in structured RNAs. Five families of Psi synthases have been characterized based on sequence homology. Pus10 has no significant sequence homology to these defined families and therefore represents a new family of Psi synthases.

Purification and crystallization ofEscherichia colipseudouridine synthase RluD

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D Biological Crystallography, 2003
RluD is the pseudouridine (Psi) synthase responsible for forming Psi1911, Psi1915 and Psi1917 in Escherichia coli 23S RNA. Out of the 11 Psi synthases in E. coli, only cells lacking RluD show a severe growth defect. In addition, RluD belongs to the RluA family of Psi synthases, one of the two remaining families without a representative crystal ...

Genome-wide identification, characterization, and expression analysis unveil the roles of pseudouridine synthase (PUS) family proteins in rice development and stress response. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Mol Biol Plants, 2023
Pseudouridylation, the conversion of uridine (U) to pseudouridine (Ѱ), is one of the most prevalent and evolutionary conserved RNA modifications, which is catalyzed by pseudouridine synthase (PUS) enzymes.

Loss of Drosophila pseudouridine synthase triggers apoptosis-induced proliferation and promotes cell-nonautonomous EMT. [PDF]

open access: yesCell Death Dis, 2015
Many developing tissues display regenerative capability that allows them to compensate cell loss and preserve tissue homeostasis. Because of their remarkable regenerative capability, Drosophila wing discs are extensively used for the study of ...

Human SHQ1 variants R335C and A426V lead to severe ribosome biogenesis defects when expressed in yeast

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2023
SHQ1 is an essential chaperone that binds the pseudouridine synthase dyskerin in the cytoplasm and escorts the enzyme to the nucleus, where dyskerin is assembled into small nucleolar RNPs (snoRNPs) of the H/ACA class.
