Visibility Induction for Discretized Pursuit-Evasion Games
Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2021We study a two-player pursuit-evasion game, in which an agent moving amongst obstacles is to be maintained within ``sight" of a pursuing robot. Using a discretization of the environment, our main contribution is to design an efficient algorithm that decides, given initial positions of both pursuer and evader, if the evader can take any ...

A pursuit-evasion game with hybrid pursuer dynamics
2007 European Control Conference (ECC), 2007In this paper the authors study the pursuit-evasion game with hybrid dynamics of the pursuer and give a new approach to the solution of this game. The approach takes into account the ZEM (Zero-Effort Miss) discontinuity, yielding a new auxiliary game with impulsive dynamics.

On Function Space Pursuit-Evasion Games
SIAM Journal on Control, 1967Functional analysis is used to analyze a minimax problem for a class of functionals on a Hilbert space. The abstract solution is then interpreted, through examples, in the context of pursuit-evasion games. The examples given are chosen to emphasize the breadth of the analysis. Some computational aspects of the minimax problem are considered.

Capture zones in a pursuit-evasion game
42nd IEEE International Conference on Decision and Control (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37475), 2004Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of capture zones in a pursuit-evasion game between a guided missile and its aerial target are derived. Forward canard or aft tail controlled interceptor and target, both having first order biproper transfer functions to represent their closed loop maneuver dynamics, are studied.

Surveillance for Security as a Pursuit-Evasion Game
2014This work addresses a visibility-based target tracking problem that arises in autonomous surveillance for covert security applications. Consider a mobile observer, equipped with a camera, tracking a target in an environment containing obstacles. The interaction between the target and the observer is assumed to be adversarial in order to obtain control ...

On-line solution of a stochastic pursuit-evasion game
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1979In this paper, the concepts of prior-commitment and delayed-commitment strategies for zero-sum, linear-quadratic differential games with noise-corrupted measurements are applied to a detailed example of a pursuit-evasion game. Quasilinearization is used to solve the nonlinear two-point boundary-value problem of the prior-commitment game.

Pursuit-Evasion Games of High Speed Evader
Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, 2016In this paper, we address pursuit-evasion games of high speed evader involving multiple pursuers and a single evader with holonomic constraints in an open domain. The existing work on this problem discussed the required formation and capture strategy for a group of pursuers.

Control Sequencing in a Game of Identity Pursuit-Evasion
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2015Summary: The optimal control sequence is found for the capture by a pursuer of the identities of an arbitrary number of evaders. The pursuer moves to observe the face of each evader, which each evader simultaneously moves to conceal. A dynamic game model is used, with metrics defining evader observability and utility functions embodying pursuer and ...

On a class of pursuit-evasion games
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1970A class of pursuit-evasion games is studied. The problem is to find an optimal control pair which is a saddle point of the terminal miss distance functional, minimizes cost functionals of the pursuer and the evader, and steers the pursuer and the evader to their respective targets. Necessary conditions for an optimal control pair are obtained.

On Porter's pursuit-evasion games
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1970A minimax problem for Porter's class of functionals is considered in the case when the two players' strategies are elements of convex and strongly or weakly compact subsets of real Hilbert spaces. Functional analysis is used to prove sufficient conditions ensuring the existence of saddle points.
