Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐

Crystal Engineering of Chelating Hybrid Ultramicroporous Materials via Pillar Modulation for Energy‐Efficient Acetylene Separation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A new chelating hybrid ultramicroporous material platform is developed using anion modulation to fine‐tune pore chemistry and binding environments, enabling selective C2H2 capture over CO2. One of them, NbOFFIVE‐enmepy‐Zn, exhibits multiple binding interactions for C2H2 vs.

Pyrazine Revisited

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics, 1986
Pyrazine is shown by its Molecular Eigenstate Spectra and by its quantum beats to be a small molecule. The effect of Coriolis coupling and non-resonant light scattering are discussed. This paper further treats the so-called "fast component". Its existence with a decay time of about 100 psec has by now been firmly established. It finds its cause in the "

Anisotropic Swelling of a Single‐Crystalline Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Framework Induced by Iodine Vapor Uptake

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A single crystal of a layered hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) undergoes iodine uptake‐induced anisotropic swelling via adsorption into void channels and intercalation into the layers. ABSTRACT In this paper, we report that iodine vapor adsorption induces anisotropic swelling of a porous hydrogen‐bonded framework (HOF) composed of hexacarboxylic

[1,2,5]Thiadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine-5,6(4H,7H)-dione

open access: yesMolbank
Fused 1,2,5-chalcogenadiazoles are often used as biologically active compounds and organic optovoltaic materials. [1,2,5]Thiadiazolo[3,4-b]pyrazines are much less studied due to difficulties in their preparation. In this communication, [1,2,5]thiadiazolo[

Delocalized Redox Framework of Indanthrone Enables Low‐Strain and Durable Mn2+/H+ Storage in Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A high‐performance Mn2+/H+ hybrid aqueous battery is realized using an indanthrone cathode, exhibiting 85.5% capacity retention over 3000 cycles. The system features a low‐strain Mn2+/H+ storage mechanism where b‐axis expansion is balanced by contractions in the a and c‐axes.

Dy2 Schiff Base Single Molecule Magnet Forming a Halogen Bonding Network: Experiment and Theory

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
A major challenge to improve SMMs is control over phonon‐based relaxation mechanisms, such as the Raman process. We approach this challenge through the incorporation of intermolecular interactions, which can restrict acoustic phonon modes. For this, we engineer the crystal lattice of a Dy2 SMM using halogen bonding and investigate its properties using ...

Microwave pretreatment effects on the aroma precursors, sensory characteristics and flavor profiles of fragrant rapeseed oil

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
Microwave technology offers a rapid and uniform heating method. This study investigated how microwave pretreatment affects the aroma precursors and flavor of fragrant rapeseed oils (FROs). Microwave pretreatment led to decreased levels of polyunsaturated

Interaction Analysis using the Cambridge Structural Database – rapid access to intermolecular hydrogen‐bond frequencies and uses for coformer selection

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section B, EarlyView.
We describe a coformer selection tool that uses knowledge of functional group interactions found in the Cambridge Structural Database to quickly identify complementary molecules to the target.A new methodology to perform virtual coformer screening, utilising data gathered on hydrogen‐bonding interactions present in the organic subset of the Cambridge ...
