Pyrimidine biosynthesis is not an essential function for trypanosoma brucei bloodstream forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013

Background: African trypanosomes are capable of both pyrimidine biosynthesis and salvage of preformed pyrimidines from the host, but it is unknown whether either process is essential to the parasite.

Methodology/Principal ...

Synthesis of Pyrimidines and Condensed Pyrimidines [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1973
Abstract A new one-step synthesis of pyrimidines and condensed pyrimidines by heating carboxamides or cyclic lactams with formamide in the presence of POCl3 in a sealed tube is described.

Functional and genetic evidence that nucleoside transport is highly conserved in Leishmania species: Implications for pyrimidine-based chemotherapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Leishmania pyrimidine salvage is replete with opportunities for therapeutic intervention with enzyme inhibitors or antimetabolites. Their uptake into cells depends upon specific transporters; therefore it is essential to establish whether various ...

Phosphorylation of purine and pyrimidine nucleosides by isolated rat liver mitochondria [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Formation of 5'-AMP, 5'-GMP, 5'-CMP and 5'UMP was confirmed in isolated rat liver mitochondria incubated with alpha-ketoglutarate, inorganic phosphate, purine nucleoside and pyrimidine nucleoside. Increased incorporation of 32Pi into ATP, GTP and UTP was

13C n.m.r. investigation on the nitrogen methylation of some azabenzenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The 1H and 13C n.m.r. spectra of N-methylated pyridine, pyridazine, pyrimidine and pyrazine and N,N-dimethylated pyrimidine and pyrazine have been recorded and analysed.

PURINE AND PYRIMIDINE ANTAGONISM IN A PYRIMIDINE-DEFICIENT MUTANT OF NEUROSPORA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1948
The present study is concerned with the inhibition of growth of the pyrimidine-deficient Neurospora mutant, No. 1298, by the naturally occurring purine ribonucleotides and ribonucleosides. This experimentally produced strain, unlike the wild type, is unable to synthesize the pyrimidine ribonucleosides on a medium containing inorganic salts ...

Interactions of slow electrons with biomolecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report on results of computational studies of the interaction of slow electrons with the purine and pyrimidine bases of DNA, as well as with their associated nucleosides and nucleotides.

Pyrimidine-2-carboxamide [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2007
In the crystal strucuture of the title compound, C(5)H(5)N(3)O, which was obtained upon recrystallization of 2-cyano-pyrimidine from aqueous sodium hydroxide, the amide group is twisted with respect to the aromatic ring by 24.9 (1)°. π-π stacking is observed between partially overlapped rings at a face-to-face separation of 3.439 (6) Å.
