The Basicity of 2,6-Dimethyl-4-pyrone

open access: yes, 1985
Conductimetric and spectrophotometric measurements of the Ka of protonated 2,6-dimethyl-4-pyrone have been made. The conductimetrically determined value of pKa = 0.17 0.03 was 0.2 pK units higher than the value of pKa = -0.02 0.05 found ...

Bioactive α-Pyrone Analogs from the Endophytic Fungus Diaporthe sp. CB10100: α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity, Molecular Docking, and Molecular Dynamics Studies

open access: yesMolecules
Two α-pyrone analogs were isolated from the endophytic fungus Diaporthe sp. CB10100, which is derived from the medicinal plant Sinomenium acutum. These analogs included a new compound, diaporpyrone F (3), and a known compound, diaporpyrone D (4).

Breaking Down Barriers: CorA Effectively Targets Staphylococcal Biofilms in Vitro and in Vivo

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Corallopyronin A (CorA), a natural alpha‐pyrone antibiotic, penetrates Staphylococcus aureus biofilms and inhibits RNA polymerase. This work demonstrates CorA's superior efficacy compared to rifampicin and dalbavancin in reducing viable loads in biofilms both in vitro and in vivo. Graphic created in https://BioRender.com.

Construction of 2‑Pyrone Skeleton via Domino Sequence between 2‑Acyl-1-Chlorocyclopropanecarboxylate and Amines

open access: yes, 2016
A base-promoted domino reaction of 2-acyl-1-chlorocyclopropaneformic esters with amines is described. In the presence of inorganic bases like Cs2CO3 or Mg(OEt)2, the reaction proceeded smoothly in acetonitrile to afford 2-pyrone derivatives in modest to
