DEVELOPMENT OF NEW ACCESS ROUTES TO PYRAZOLO[1,5-a]PYRIMIDINE USING 4-HYDROXY-6-METHYLPYRAN-2-ONE

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2011
In this work, we propose a new and fast strategy giving the pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines substituted at positions 5 and 7 via condensation of 3-amino-5-arylpyrazoles with 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyran-2-one in both conventional heating and microwave irradiation.

Two New Pyrone Derivatives from the Plant Endophytic Fungus sp

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2014
Two new α-pyrones, Exserolide G–H (1–2) , together with one known metabolite, stemphypyrone (3) , were isolated from the solid-substrate fermentation cultures of the plant endophytic fungus Exserohilum sp.

Breaking Down Barriers: CorA Effectively Targets Staphylococcal Biofilms in Vitro and in Vivo

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 7, 14 April 2026.
Corallopyronin A (CorA), a natural alpha‐pyrone antibiotic, penetrates Staphylococcus aureus biofilms and inhibits RNA polymerase. This work demonstrates CorA's superior efficacy compared to rifampicin and dalbavancin in reducing viable loads in biofilms both in vitro and in vivo. Graphic created in https://BioRender.com.

A flexible route to bioactive 6-alkyl-α-pyrones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Both 6-chloro-α-pyrones and 3-chlorobenzopyran-1-ones react with malonates followed by a double decarboalkoxylation to give the corresponding alkyl and alkenyl products. This is a manuscript of an article published as Qu, Yang, and George A. Kraus.

Syntheses of Conjugated Pyrones for the Enzymatic Assay of Lovastatin Nonaketide Synthase, an Iterative Polyketide Synthase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Lovastatin nonaketide synthase (LovB, LNKS) is an iterative type I polyketide synthase (PKS) from Aspergillus terreus that produces dihydromonacolin L (2), the biosynthetic precursor of lovastatin (1), from acetyl CoA, malonyl CoA, and S ...

4-Hydroxy-6-alkyl-2-pyrones as nucleophilic coupling partners in Mitsunobu reactions and oxa-Michael additions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
Two mild and efficient strategies have been developed for the O-functionalisation of 4-hydroxy-6-alkyl-2-pyrones, by using them as nucleophilic partners in oxa-Michael additions and the Mitsunobu reaction.
