Light‐Activated Ruthenium Nanoclusters Reprogram the Metabolic‐Quorum Sensing Axis for Precision Periodontitis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under 660 nm visible light, Ru NCs efficiently photocatalyze nitrate‐to‐ammonium conversion and modulate oral nitrogen metabolism. They precisely perturb Veillonella parvula, block its key support to Porphyromonas gingivalis, and exert an “inhibiting without killing” antivirulence effect.

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...

Interference of bacterial cell-to-cell communication: A new concept of antimicrobial chemotherapy breaks antibiotic

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Bacteria use a cell-to-cell communication activity termed Quorum sensing to coordinate group behaviors in a cell-density dependent manner. Quorum sensing influences the expression profile of diverse genes, including antibiotic tolerance and virulence ...

Exploration of quorum sensing inhibition in gram positive bacterial pathogens using mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Antibiotics have been used as the primary treatment for bacterial infections since the 1940’s. Unfortunately, the use and misuse of antibiotics has led to the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and resulted in the loss of antibiotic efficacy.

Bio‐Inspired Mechanical Amplification Block on Implantable Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
. ABSTRACT Implantable strain sensors offer opportunities for continuous biomechanical monitoring, but their performance deteriorates severely once embedded in soft tissue due to mechanical shielding that suppresses strain transmission to the sensing layer.

The AHL Quorum-Sensing System Negatively Regulates Growth and Autolysis in Lysobacter brunescens

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Lysobacter species are emerging as novel sources of antibiotics, but the regulation of their physiological metabolism is still poorly understood. In this work, we extracted AHL (acyl-homoserine lactone) autoinducers, identified the structures of AHLs and
