τBu₂SiF-Derivatized D₂-Receptor Ligands: The First SiFA-Containing Small Molecule Radiotracers for Target-Specific PET-Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The synthesis, radiolabeling and in vitro evaluation of new silicon-fluoride acceptor (SiFA) derivatized D-2-receptor ligands is reported. The SiFA-technology simplifies the introduction of fluorine-18 into target specific biomolecules for Positron ...

Catalyst-Free Aromatic Radiofluorination via Oxidized Iodoarene Precursors

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2018
Oxidized iodoarenes (OIAs), prepared via mCPBA-mediated oxidation, have been demonstrated as versatile precursors for the synthesis of [18F]fluoroarenes in the absence of catalysts. OIAs have been identified as intermediates in single-pot syntheses of iodonium salts and ylides but have never been recognized as radiofluorination precursors.

Double‐Click Strategy Combining CuAAC and (Thia‐) Diels‐Alder Reactions; Application Toward Peptide Labeling

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 41, July 22, 2025.
A double click‐strategy combining copper‐catalyzed azide‐alkyne cycloaddition with (thia‐)Diels‐Alder reactions involving a reactive s‐cis‐constrained diene is reported. Three different one‐pot protocols (i.e., sequential or three‐component reactions) are proposed and offer valuable guidance for future applications.

Nucleophilic Radiofluorination Using Tri-tert-Butanol Ammonium as a Bifunctional Organocatalyst: Mechanism and Energetics

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
We present a quantum chemical analysis of the 18F-fluorination of 1,3-ditosylpropane, promoted by a quaternary ammonium salt (tri-(tert-butanol)-methylammonium iodide (TBMA-I) with moderate to good radiochemical yields (RCYs), experimentally observed by ...

NHC-Copper Mediated Ligand-Directed Radiofluorination of Aryl Halides

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2020
[18F]-labeled aryl fluorides are widely used as radiotracers for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Aryl halides (ArX) are particularly attractive precursors to these radiotracers, as they are readily available, inexpensive, and stable. However, to date, the direct preparation of [18F]-aryl fluorides from aryl halides remains limited to SNAr ...

Pioneering Metal‐Free Late‐Stage C−H Functionalization Using Acridinium Salt Photocatalysis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 67, December 2, 2024.
Organic dyes are powerful photocatalysts in organic transformations due to their availability, adaptable absorption, and diverse structures. Acridinium‐based organo‐photocatalysts, notable for visible light responsiveness, efficiently functionalize inert C−H bonds under mild conditions without transition metals.

Nucleophilic Synthesis of 6-l-[18F]FDOPA. Is Copper-Mediated Radiofluorination the Answer?

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Positron emission tomography employing 6-l-[18F]fluoro-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (6-l-[18F]FDOPA) is currently a highly relevant clinical tool for detection of gliomas, neuroendocrine tumors and evaluation of Parkinson’s disease progression.

Copper-Mediated Radiofluorination of Arylstannanes with [18F]KF

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2016
A copper-mediated nucleophilic radiofluorination of aryl- and vinylstannanes with [18F]KF is described. This method is fast, uses commercially available reagents, and is compatible with both electron-rich and electron-deficient arene substrates. This method has been applied to the manual synthesis of a variety of clinically relevant radiotracers ...

Imaging Microglial/Macrophage Activation in Spinal Cords of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis Rats by Positron Emission Tomography Using the Mitochondrial 18kDa Translocator Protein Radioligand [18F]DPA-714 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the CNS. Activated microglia/macrophages play a key role in the immunopathogenesis of MS and its corresponding animal models, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).
