Signal transduction by receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B in osteoclasts
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B (RANK) is a tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) family protein that plays an important role in the regulation of bone and immune systems. Cellular responses to RANK ligand (RANKL) and the signal transduction pathways of RANK have been well characterized in osteoclasts and osteoclast precursor cells.

Influence of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B on human aortic valve myofibroblasts
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 2005Calcific aortic valve stenosis, the main heart valve disease in the elderly, is based on progressive calcification and fibrous thickening of the valve. Several reports addressed the pathogenesis of tissue calcification in this disorder, but few data exist on the molecular mechanisms of the fibrosis and remodeling of the extracellular matrix.

Calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2) microcapsules were synthesized to allow controlled release of Ca(OH)2. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of Ca(OH)2 microcapsules on osteoprotegerin (OPG) activity, receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) activity, and the OPG/RANKL ratio compared with pure Ca(OH)2 powder and Vitapex ...

Human osteosarcoma cells express functional receptor activator of nuclear factor‐kappa B
The Journal of Pathology, 2007AbstractRANK, RANK ligand (RANKL) and osteoprotegerin (OPG) are the key regulators of bone metabolism, both in normal and pathological conditions. Previous data have demonstrated that human osteosarcoma biopsies express RANKL as well as OPG, and functional RANK is expressed in a murine osteosarcoma cell line.

Bone remodeling requires osteoclast activation, resorption, and reversal, prior to osteoblast migration into the bone pit. The Receptor Activator of NF‐κB (RANK) signaling pathway plays an important role in bone remodeling. Two components of the RANK signaling pathway, RANK Ligand (RANKL) and the decoy receptor Osteoprotegerin (OPG), are expressed ...

Serum level of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa‐B ligand in patients with psoriasis
International Journal of Dermatology, 2015AbstractBackgroundPsoriasis usually precedes the onset of psoriatic arthritis by an average of 10 years in about 70% of patients. Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa‐B ligand (RANKL) is a natural and necessary surface‐bound molecule, which is a ligand for osteoprotegrin and functions as a key factor for osteoclast differentiation and activation ...

Bone loss is a major complication of osteomyelitis and from numerous in-vitro studies, it has been concluded that the bone lysis is caused by elevated expression of the receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL), leading to increased osteoclast activity.

EP891 Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand expression predicts ovarian cancer outcome
ePoster, 2019Introduction/Background The receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB (RANK) pathway, activated by RANK ligand (RANKL), critically controls bone metabolism and modulates tumour immune response. Denosumab, a neutralizing RANKL antibody, exerts tumour-suppressive effects in mice and humans. Herein, the relevance of RANK signalling was investigated for the

AbstractBackground and ObjectivesOsteolytic bone tumors produce intercellular signaling proteins that regulate bone remodeling by altering the rates of osteoclast and osteoblast differentiation and activity. This report examines osteolytic bone tumor expression of receptor activator of nuclear factor B‐ligand (RANK‐L), a cytokine that is arguably the ...

Background: Increased level of proinflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)‐12 correlates with the severity of periodontitis. Yet, a possible role of IL‐12 in periodontal disease has not been clarified. The aim of this study is to investigate whether IL‐12 affects expression of receptor activator of nuclear factor‐kappa B (NF‐κB) ligand (RANKL), a potent ...
