Serum Advanced Glycation End Products as Drivers of Poor Tendon Outcomes in Diabetes? An Emerging Hypothesis and Narrative Review

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Tendon injuries in diabetes heal poorly, with unclear drivers of extracellular matrix disruption and altered mechanics. This narrative review synthesizes in vitro, animal, and human studies, highlighting serum advanced glycation end products as potential systemic contributors.

Oxidative Stress‐Induced Expression Levels of PXDN and NF‐κB in Type 2 Diabetic Patients With Nephropathy

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
PXDN expression is markedly upregulated in diabetic nephropathy and, versus NF‐κB and oxidative stress markers, shows superior diagnostic performance (AUC 0.79; 90% specificity), supporting PXDN as a sensitive, specific non‐invasive biomarker for early DN.

Association Between Dietary Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) and Pancreatic Fat Accumulation: Evidence From a Case–Control Study

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
Higher dietary intake of Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) was associated with higher odds of pancreatic steatosis in this case–control sample of gallstone patients. ABSTRACT Background Pancreatic steatosis (PS) is a metabolic condition associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and fatty liver disease.

Associations of Dietary Patterns and Micronutrients With Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events and Mortality Among Populations With Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome Stages 0–3: Results From Two Prospective Cohorts

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Graphical abstract illustrating the study design and core findings of two prospective cohorts (UK Biobank, n = 82,222; NHANES, n = 16,842) enrolling participants with CKM syndrome stages 0–3. We examined associations of plant‐based diets (HPDI, AMED), pro‐inflammatory diet (DII), and multiple micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) with MACE and all‐cause ...

Biomimetic Collagen Scaffolds Natural Cross‐Linking Strategies via Transglutaminase and Methylglyoxal for Skin Repair

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 114, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Collagen‐based scaffolds are widely used in tissue engineering for skin repair due to their biocompatibility and structural resemblance to extracellular matrix. However, rapid degradation and insufficient mechanical stability limit their effectiveness. This study investigates natural cross‐linking strategies utilizing Transglutaminase (TG) and
