Molecular Cloning and Characterization of the Porcine Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide Receptor [PDF]
Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptors (CGRP-Rs) are widely distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems. A novel CGRP-R was identified from a porcine lung complementary DNA library. Sequence analysis indicated that the CGRP-R is 462 amino acids in length and shares 93% sequence identity with the human CGRP-R.

Research Progress on Upper Airway Cough Syndrome
ABSTRACT Upper airway cough syndrome (UACS) has been identified as a significant contributor to chronic cough in various national guidelines. However, the complexity of its pathogenesis, the lack of clarity surrounding its diagnostic criteria, and its overlap with other etiologies of chronic cough present considerable challenges in both diagnosis and ...

Comorbidity Patterns Between Hearing Loss and Symptomatic Dizziness in Middle‐Aged and Older Adults
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the comorbidity patterns between hearing loss and symptomatic dizziness (HL‐SD) in middle‐aged and older adults. Methods This cross‐sectional study used data from the 1999 to 2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). After excluding incomplete data, 2961 participants aged 40–69 were analyzed. Logistic

Calcitonin‐like diuretic hormone influences reproduction in adult female Rhodnius prolixus
Highlights • CT/DH‐like immunoreactivity is present in female reproductive tissues • CT/DH receptor transcripts are expressed in the fat body and ovaries • RNAi knockdown of CT/DH receptors reduces egg number and hatching rate • Rhopr‐CT/DH increases RhoprVg1 and RhoprVgR expression in ovaries in vitro • Rhopr‐CT/DH stimulates oviduct contractions in a

Adrenomedullin (AM) improves colitis in animal models and patients with inflammatory bowel disease. We have developed a PEGylated AM derivative (PEG-AM) for clinical application because AM has a short half-life in the blood. However, modification by addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG) may compromise the function of the original peptide. In this paper,

Sequence of Immunological Events During IgE‐Mediated Allergic Reactions to Food
ABSTRACT Food allergies (FA) represent a significant global health burden. Upon allergen re‐exposure, allergic patients exhibit a sequence of symptoms that vary in terms of affected organ systems, severity, time of onset and allergen reactivity thresholds.

ABSTRACT Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are two common cutaneous chronic inflammatory diseases. Although they share similar immunological mechanisms, their clinical implications in the patient are different. This review compares both diseases from different points of view such as genetics, natural history, triggers of disease, and skin barrier defects
