Modifications of the thymocyte membrane during redistribution of concanavalin A receptors
European Journal of Immunology, 1976AbstractThe modifications of the thymocyte membrane which are induced by concanavalin A (Con A) were studied by means of the variation of electro phoretic mobility which the lectin induces on the cell. The electrophoretic mobility of thymocytes is increased when Con A is used under conditions expected to induce a cap formation and the subsequent ...

Relationship between membrane fluidity and capping of receptors for concanavalin A
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1980The activities of a range of phenylalaninol-related compounds on capping of concanavalin A and induction of rounding of Chinese hamster ovary tsHl cells, as well as on the fluidity of phosphatidylcholine–cholesterol (1:1) liposomes, have been examined.

ABSTRACT The capping of Concanavalin A (Con A) receptors induced by Con A was studied using human peripheral blood lymphocytes. The effects of Con A dose (5–100 μg/ml), pretreatment at 4 °C, unbound Con A, extracellular Ca2+ and Mg2+ and vinblastine were evaluated using Con A-horseradish peroxidase and electron microscopy.

[Redistribution of concanavalin A receptors on the thrombocyte surface].
Tsitologiia, 1982Using the indirect immunofluorescence method, it has been shown for the first time that concanavalin A receptors can undergo a redistribution over the surface of platelets spread on the substrate. The distribution of receptors in the intact cells is diffuse and random.

Heterogeneity of concanavalin A receptors on Ehrlich tumor cells.
Progress in clinical and biological research, 1977Concanavalin A (Con A)-binding glycoproteins have been purified from Ehrlich ascites tumor cells by precipitation of cell extracts with Con A in agarose gels and by lithium diiodosalicylate (LIS) extraction. Antisera prepared against these two glycoprotein fractions indicate the presence of a minimum of five different antigens in the Con A-cell extract
