The Benzodiazepine Binding Sites of GABA Receptors. [PDF]
Everyday activity is based on a subtle equilibrium of excitatory and inhibitory neuronal systems. The most prominent players in neuronal inhibition are synaptic and extrasynaptic GABA receptors.

ABSTRACT Background Depression, anxiety and criminal behaviour are often correlated, but the direction and nature of these associations remain contested. Aims To investigate the temporal relationships between depression and/or anxiety and criminal behaviour at age 32 and depression and/or anxiety and criminal behaviour at age 48.

The general anaesthetic etomidate inhibits the excitability of mouse thalamocortical relay neurons by modulating multiple modes of GABAA receptor-mediated inhibition [PDF]
Modulation of thalamocortical (TC) relay neuron function has been implicated in the sedative and hypnotic effects of general anaesthetics. Inhibition of TC neurons is mediated predominantly by a combination of phasic and tonic inhibition, together with a

Abstact Background Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA), the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter in the cerebral cortex, maintains the inhibitory tones that counter balances neuronal excitation. When this balance is perturbed, seizures may ensue. Methods In

This comprehensive review presents a progressive roadmap for perovskite vision detectors. Centered on perovskite‐based artificial perception, the graphic illustrates a systematic evolution: starting with fundamental material engineering and device architectures, advancing toward complex functional strategies such as flexible neuromorphic imaging ...

Total syntheses of agelamadin F and (±)‐tauroacidin A were achieved by sodium chlorite (NaClO2)‐mediated oxidative C─N coupling. Nine C15–N–amino acid‐substituted oroidin derivatives were successfully prepared to demonstrate the applicability and versatility of this oxidative coupling reaction.

In Vivo Cytoskeletal AMPA Receptor Transport Imaging in C. elegans
ABSTRACT Long‐distance intracellular transport of ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) is essential for proper excitatory synaptic function underlying learning and memory. Many neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions have abnormal iGluR transport and trafficking, leading to an intense interest in the mechanisms and factors regulating these

One‐third of epilepsy patients remain treatment‐resistant, underscoring the need for novel anti‐seizure medications (ASMs) and reliable biomarkers of central target engagement. Cortical hyperexcitability is a hallmark of epilepsy, making excitability a valuable pharmacodynamic biomarker for early‐phase drug development supporting go/no‐go decision ...

Major depressive disorder (MDD) and treatment‐resistant depression (TRD) remain leading causes of disability, providing the impetus for receptor‐level treatment strategies beyond monoamine reuptake. The serotonin 5‐HT2B receptor (5‐HT2BR) is uniquely positioned at the interface of central‐antidepressant mechanisms and peripheral cardiac risks.
