Regulatory Effect and Mechanism of Tanshinone I on Cell Apoptosis in Steroid‐Induced Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Steroid‐induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SIONFH) is a debilitating orthopedic condition. This study investigated the mechanism of Tanshinone I (TsI) in SIONFH modulating apoptosis in SIONFH via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. A SIONFH rat model was treated with TsI and a PI3K activator. Bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume/total volume

Sciatic Nerve Stimulation Mitigates Depression‐Like Behaviors and Memory Deficits in Stressed Mice

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stress causes depression and cognitive decline. With limitations in pharmacotherapy, sciatic nerve stimulation (SNS) offers a promising nondrug alternative. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic efficacy of SNS in mitigating stress‐induced depressive behaviors and memory deficits by focusing on astrocytic dysfunction and cellular ...

Post‐operative joint stiffness after Bereiter trochleoplasty does not affect 2‐year improvement in patient‐reported outcomes. A prospective cohort study of 374 Bereiter trochleoplasties

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Bereiter trochleoplasty (TP) is a well‐described procedure to address trochlear dysplasia (TD). Post‐operative joint stiffness with reduced range of motion (ROM) is a common complication usually requiring arthroscopically assisted manipulation (AAM) with the removal of adhesions and scar tissue. Inferior clinical outcomes after TP have

Vocal Fold Scar Treatment via Controlled Dexamethasone Delivery With a Light‐Activatable Implant

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
A light‐activatable dexamethasone implant was employed for the treatment of vocal fold (VF) scarring in a rabbit model. The implant enables controlled, repeatable drug release via near‐infrared laser irradiation, improving biomechanics, vibratory function, and histological architecture at the injury site.
