Thromboxane, Prostaglandin and Leukotriene Receptors

Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology, 1989
Thromboxanes (TX), prostaglandins (PG), and leukotrienes (LT) (eicosa noids) are metabolites of the the 20-carbon fatty acid arachidonic acid. Current evidence supports potential pathophysiologic roles for these autocoids in many diseases (1-3).

Receptors for thromboxane and prostaglandins

1984
The elucidation of the structures of thomboxane A2 and prostaglandin D2, E2, F2a and I2, all products of the cyclic endoperoxides PGG2/PGH2, was accompanied by the demonstration of a distinctive biological profile for each compound. Stimulant or inhibitory activity was often observed at nanomolar concentrations.

Prostaglandin F2α Receptor-Dependent Regulation of Prostaglandin Transport

Molecular Pharmacology, 2001
Prostaglandin (PG) F(2alpha) may act on its G protein-coupled receptor (FP) or be imported intracellularly via a transporter, which has high affinity for PGF(2alpha) and PGE(2), but not prostacyclin (PGI(2)). In cells overexpressing the epitope-tagged FP together with the human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT), stimulation of the FP with PGF(2alpha) (1

Evaluation of prostaglandin-receptors in human and rat liver: Interspecies differences at the prostaglandin receptor-level

Prostaglandins, 1988
The properties of PGE1-, PGE2- and iloprost (stable PGI2-analogue)-binding sites on normal human and rat liver surface cell membranes were investigated. The specific binding of [3H]PGE1 to human (rat) liver surface cell membranes could be displaced most effectively by unlabeled PGE1 (IC-50:2.5 +/- 1.7, (6.1 +/- 2.1) microM) and the specific binding of [

Conformations of Prostaglandin F 2α and Recognition of Prostaglandins by Their Receptors

Science, 1977
The conformation of prostaglandin F 2α (PGF 2α ) has been determined by x-ray diffraction techniques. Two independent conformers of PGF 2α , studied as the tris(hydroxymethyl)methylamine salt, are observed to adopt the familiar "hairpin" conformation with the α and ω ...

Platelet Prostaglandin Receptors

1997
Prostanoids, consisting of prostaglandins (PGs) and thromboxane (TX), are oxygenated metabolites of arachidonic acids. They are produced by a variety of cells in response to stimuli and are released from the cells immediately after synthesis. They exert a variety of actions in the body that are mediated via cell surface receptors specific for each ...

Prostaglandin Receptor Sensitivity in Psychiatric Disorders

Archives of General Psychiatry, 1986
The cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) responses to prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) in platelets and leukocytes from drug-free schizophrenic patients, depressive patients, and normal controls have been compared. Both schizophrenic and depressive patients had a significantly lower platelet cAMP response to PGE1 than controls.

Trigeminal Nociceptors Express Prostaglandin Receptors

Journal of Dental Research, 2008
Orofacial inflammation is associated with prostaglandin release and the sensitization of nociceptive receptors such as the transient receptor potential subtype V 1 (TRPV 1 ).

Antagonists of the Prostaglandin D2 Receptor CRTH2

Drug News & Perspectives, 2008
Prostaglandin D(2) (PGD(2)) is produced by mast cells, Th2 lymphocytes and dendritic cells and causes activation of Th2 lymphocytes, eosinophils and basophils through a high-affinity interaction with the G protein-coupled receptor chemoattractant homologous receptor expressed on Th2 cells (CRTH2, also known as DP(2)).

Prostaglandin receptors in the airways.

Ciba Foundation symposium, 1981
An analysis of the effects of some natural prostaglandins and of synthetic analogues with more selective actions points to the existence of several receptors for prostaglandins in the airways. Three effects have been studied: the contraction and relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle in vitro and the cough elicited by inhalation of prostaglandin ...
