Natural Resistance to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome in Estrildid Finches Reveals Macrophage GPR183 as a Potential Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ovarian macrophage depletion reverses OHSS resistance in estrildid finches and exacerbates OHSS symptoms in rats. Activating macrophage GPR183 alleviates OHSS by reducing pro‐inflammatory factors, increasing immunomodulatory molecules, remodeling CD44/SDC4‐mediated communication, and restoring immune homeostasis.

β-Arrestin 1 in Thyrotropin Receptor Signaling in Bone: Studies in Osteoblast-Like Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2020
A direct action of thyrotropin (TSH, thyroid-stimulating hormone) on bone precursors in humans is controversial. Studies in rodent models have provided conflicting findings.

Recent Advances in Functional Liver Volumetry: Emphasis on 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT Fusion Imaging

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Functional liver volumetry enables more accurate assessment of the future liver remnant by integrating anatomical and functional information, improving risk stratification before major hepatectomy. Among available techniques, 99mTc‐GSA SPECT/CT fusion imaging enables precise regional functional assessment and more reliable prediction of post ...

Expression profiles of somatostatin, dopamine, and estrogen receptors in pituitary adenomas determined by means of synthetic multilocus calibrators

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2016
Aims: Pituitary adenomas (PA) are non-invasive benign tumors with a high autopsy prevalence. They are classified according to the type of hormone secreted (prolactin, growth hormone, adrenocorticotropin, thyrotropin, folitropin, or luteinizing hormone ...

Variation in the Thyrotropic Activity of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin in Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells Arises from Differential Expression of the Human Thyrotropin Receptor and Microheterogeneity of the Hormone. [PDF]

open access: yes
The role of hCG as a stimulator of the human thyroid has been a subject of controversy, because discrepant results have been obtained in different in vitro assays.

Functional Characteristics of a Variant Thyrotropin Receptor [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1996
A claim has been made that a variant of the human thyrotropin receptor in which Pro52 is replaced by Thr([Thr52]thyrotropinreceptor) is associated with autoimmune thyroid diseases and displays increased responsiveness to thyrotropin. We have analysed the functional characteristics of this variant receptor.

A high‐fat diet with vitamin D and propylthiouracil produces a pro‐atherogenic phenotype in rats

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Male Sprague–Dawley rats received a cholesterol‐rich high‐fat diet supplemented with vitamin D and propylthiouracil for 11 weeks. The model induced dyslipidemia (increased total cholesterol/low‐density lipoprotein, decreased triglycerides), inflammation (increased interleukin‐6 and serum amyloid A), hypercalcemia, and reduced circulating endothelial ...

Multimorbidity and Associations with Cognition and Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Multimorbidity, the coexistence of 2 or more chronic conditions, has been linked to cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD‐related dementias, yet the mechanisms remain unclear. We aimed to examine the associations of multimorbidity with cognition and biomarkers across multiple mechanistic pathways.
