Reversible Anionic Redox Activities in Conventional LiNi1/3 Co1/3 Mn1/3 O2 Cathodes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Redox reactions of oxygen have been considered critical in controlling the electrochemical properties of lithium-excessive layered-oxide electrodes. However, conventional electrode materials without overlithiation remain the most practical.

Redox control of multidrug resistance and Its possible modulation by antioxidants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Clinical efficacy of anticancer chemotherapies is dramatically hampered by multidrug resistance (MDR) dependent on inherited traits, acquired defence against toxins, and adaptive mechanisms mounting in tumours.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Using the heme peroxidase APEX2 to probe intracellular H2O2 flux and diffusion

open access: yesNature Communications
Currently available genetically encoded H2O2 probes report on the thiol redox state of the probe, which means that they reflect the balance between probe thiol oxidation and reduction.

Differential regulation of miRNA and mRNA expression in the myocardium of Nrf2 knockout mice

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2017
Background Nuclear Factor Erythroid-derived 2-like 2 (Nrf2) senses oxidative environments and/or stress and initiates a cytoprotective response through transcriptional activation of antioxidant and detoxification genes.

Redox-controlled epitaxy and magnetism of oxide heterointerfaces: EuO/SrTiO$_3$ [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Materials 3, 061401 (2019), 2019
We demonstrate a novel route to prepare thin films of the ferromagnetic insulator Europium monoxide. Key is a redox-controlled interface reaction between metallic Eu and the substrate SrTiO$_3$ as the supplier of oxygen. The process allows tuning the electronic, magnetic and structural properties of the EuO films.

Redox outside the Box: Linking Extracellular Redox Remodeling with Intracellular Redox Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2012
Aerobic organisms generate reactive oxygen species as metabolic side products and must achieve a delicate balance between using them for signaling cellular functions and protecting against collateral damage. Small molecule (e.g. glutathione and cysteine)- and protein (e.g.

Redox Biology of Exercise [PDF]

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, 2012
Redox biology is probably the most rapidly expanding field in biology. Indeed, the number of conferences, journals, and books devoted to redox biology is increasing and it is very often seen that major biology journals publish special issues on this area (e.g., [1–5]).

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

A role for annexin A2 in scaffolding the peroxiredoxin 2–STAT3 redox relay complex

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Peroxiredoxin 2 (Prx2) was previously shown to transfer H2O2-derived oxidative equivalents to STAT3, generating disulfide-linked dimers and tetramers. Here the authors show that the interaction between Prx2 and STAT3 at the plasma membrane is mediated by
