A Novel Neutrosophic Multi-Layered Complex Refined Hyperstructure: Theoretical Advancement with Illustrative Examples from Employee Mental Health Education Effectiveness in Enterprises [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
This paper introduces a new theoretical structure in neutrosophic set theory called the Neutrosophic Multi-Layered Complex Refined Hyperstructure (NMCRH).

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Refined BPS numbers on compact Calabi-Yau threefolds from Wilson loops

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We relate the counting of refined BPS numbers on compact elliptically fibred Calabi-Yau threefolds X to Wilson loop expectations values in the gauge theories that emerge in various rigid local limits of the 5d supergravity theory defined by M-theory ...

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Analysis of the third-order structuring of Shalom Schwartz’s theory of basic human values

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Shalom Schwartz's Theory of Basic Human Values is one of the most commonly used and tested transcultural theories in the field of behavioural research. This theory has been refined since the 1980s to reach its most recent version, from 2012.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Refining Theories of Change

open access: yesJournal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation, 2018
Background: Despite the disparities in how they are defined and what elements are included, most Theories of Change remain consistent in one way – their visual format. Typically, Theories of Change are presented as a one-page visual in a flowchart style with lines and boxes of uniform size.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Rousseau on refined Epicureanism and the problem of modern liberty

open access: yes, 2018
First published: 12 August 2018This article argues that in order to understand the form of modern political freedom envisioned by Rousseau, we have to understand his theory of taste as refined Epicureanism. Rousseau saw the division of labour and corrupt
