The in-silico evaluation of important GLUT9 residue for uric acid transport based on renal hypouricemia type 2. [PDF]
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Uric acid transporters in the renal proximal tubule plays a key role in uric acid transport. Functional abnormalities in these transporters could lead to high or low levels of uric acid in the blood ...

A novel mutation in a patient with familial renal hypouricemia type 2
Introduction: Hypouricemia may be caused by disorders leading to decreased UA production, oxidation of UA to allantoin by drugs or increased renal tubular loss of filtered UA, renal hypouricemia (RHUC).

Altered Serum Uric Acid Levels in Kidney Disorders
Serum uric acid levels are altered by kidney disorders because the kidneys play a dominant role in uric acid excretion. Here, major kidney disorders which accompany hyperuricemia or hypouricemia, including their pathophysiology, are discussed.

Hematuria in Patients with Renal Hypouricemia.
The characteristics of urate metabolism in renal hypouricemic patients with hematuria were studied to clarify the risk factors for hematuria in patients with renal hypouricemia. In 16 Japanese patients with isolated renal hypouricemia, urate metabolism was measured using the urate clearance study and the subtype of renal hypouricemia [defective ...

Impact of Hyper- and Hypo-Uricemia on Kidney Function
Uric acid (UA) forms monosodium urate (MSU) crystals to exert proinflammatory actions, thus causing gout arthritis, urolithiasis, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease. UA is also one of the most potent antioxidants that suppresses oxidative stress.

A case of idiopathic renal hypouricemia.

Background/aims Familial juvenile hereditary nephropathy (FJHN) is characterized by hyperuricemia due to severely impaired urinary excretion of urate. Hereditary renal hypouricemia is an inborn error of membrane transport.
