Hypouricemia is a risk factor for diabetes in Chinese adults [PDF]
Aims: It is unknown whether low serum uric acid (hypouricemia) is associated with diabetes diagnosis. This study aimed to investigate this association in Chinese adults. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 22,546 Chinese adults. The reference

Objective Mechanisms underlying the adolescent‐onset and early‐onset gout are unclear. This study aimed to discover variants associated with early‐onset gout. Methods We conducted whole‐genome sequencing in a discovery adolescent‐onset gout cohort of 905 individuals (gout onset 12 to 19 years) to discover common and low‐frequency single‐nucleotide ...

Background Hyperuricemia remains a critical risk factor for diabetic kidney disease (DKD) currently. Recent studies have confirmed that allopurinol, an inhibitor of xanthine oxidase (XO), does not have any beneficial effects on DKD. However, it is still unclear how uricosurics, such as benzbromarone (BZ), affect the progression of DKD.

Key Clinical Message Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) induces hyponatremia accompanied by uric acid reduction. We report a case of a patient with small‐cell lung cancer who developed SIADH with hypouricemia after duloxetine treatment and discuss the potential underlying mechanisms.

URAT1 mutations cause renal hypouricemia type 1 in Iraqi Jews
Background. Hereditary renal hypouricemia may be complicated by nephrolithiasis or exercise-induced acute renal failure. Most patients described so far are of Japanese origin and carry the truncating mutation W258X in the uric acid transporter URAT1 ...

Exercise-Induced Acute Kidney Injury: A Case of Renal Hypouricemia
Hereditary renal hypouricemia is a rare inherited disorder characterized by reduced tubular reabsorption of urate and low serum urate levels. Although it is usually asymptomatic, it may be complicated by exercise-induced acute kidney injury.

A case of idiopathic renal hypouricemia
Idiopathic renal hypouricemia is a disorder characterized by impaired urate handling in the renal tubules. This disease usually produces no symptoms, but hematuria, uric acid nephrolithiasis or acute renal failure may develop. A defect in the SLC22A12 gene, which encodes the human urate transporter, is the known major cause of this disorder.

Abstract Sulfite intoxication is the hallmark of four ultrarare disorders that are caused by impaired sulfite oxidase activity due to genetic defects in the synthesis of the molybdenum cofactor or of the apoenzyme sulfite oxidase. Delays on the diagnosis of these disorders are common and have been caused by their unspecific presentation of acute ...
