Oxidation behavior of nanocrystalline Pt-γ′ coating with embedded Al2O3 nanoparticles at 1050 °C

open access: yesCorrosion Communications
Nanocrystalline Pt-γ′ coatings (NC Pt-γ′) with embedded Al2O3 nanoparticles were fabricated on single-crystal superalloy through reactive magnetron sputtering to explore oxidation behavior of NC Pt-γ′ at 1050 °C.

Ketogenic diets for drug-resistant epilepsy.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2020
BACKGROUND Ketogenic diets (KDs) are high in fat and low in carbohydrates and have been suggested to reduce seizure frequency in people with epilepsy. Such diets may be beneficial for children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Performance, Antimicrobial Effect and Carcass Parameters of Finisher Broilers Given Xylopia aethiopica Dried Fruits (Grains of Selim) as Additive

open access: yesAgricultura Tropica et Subtropica, 2014
The effect of graded levels of grains of selim on the performance, gut microbial population and carcass characteristics of finisher broilers was investigated. Two hundred and four (204) 28 days old broiler chicks (Marshal breed) were randomly allotted to

Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Infections in U.S. Hospitalized Patients, 2012–2017

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2020
BACKGROUND Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria that are commonly associated with health care cause a substantial health burden. Updated national estimates for this group of pathogens are needed to inform public health action.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
