CASCADES, a novel SOX2 super‐enhancer‐associated long noncoding RNA, regulates cancer stem cell specification and differentiation in glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 3, Page 764-784, March 2025.
In glioblastoma, the novel lncRNA CASCADES is enriched in cancer stem cells and regulates stemness by acting as a super‐enhancer‐associated epigenetic regulator of SOX2. Knockdown of CASCADES induces glioma stem cell differentiation towards a neuronal lineage, highlighting its role in treatment resistance and tumor recurrence.

Viscous Dissipation Effects on the Motion of Casson Fluid over an Upper Horizontal Thermally Stratified Melting Surface of a Paraboloid of Revolution: Boundary Layer Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2017
The problem of a non-Newtonian fluid flow past an upper surface of an object that is neither a perfect horizontal/vertical nor inclined/cone in which dissipation of energy is associated with temperature-dependent plastic dynamic viscosity is considered ...

The scaffold protein IQGAP1 promotes reorientation of epithelial cell polarity at the two‐cell stage for cystogenesis

open access: yesGenes to Cells, Volume 29, Issue 12, Page 1154-1172, December 2024.
After the first mitosis of a single epithelial cell embedded in extracellular matrix (ECM), the cell doublet typically displays “inverted” polarity, and correct cystogenesis requires polarity reorientation, a process containing apical protein endocytosis from the ECM‐abutting periphery and apical vesicle exocytosis to the cell–cell contact site.

Pathogenesis and pathobiology of testicular germ cell tumours: a view from a developmental biological perspective with guidelines for pathological diagnostics

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 85, Issue 5, Page 701-715, November 2024.
Testicular germ cell tumours (GCT) are divided into three different subtypes according to their developmental origin, molecular features and histological differences. This review article summarises the pathobiological and developmental aspects of the three different types of testicular GCT that help in the histopathological examination of GCT by ...

Senescence-Associated Molecular and Epigenetic Alterations in Mesenchymal Stem Cell Cultures from Amniotic Fluid of Normal and Fetus-Affected Pregnancy

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2016
Human amniotic-fluid-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AF-MSCs) are interesting for their multilineage differentiation potential and wide range of therapeutic applications due to the ease of culture expansion.

Transient pluripotent cell populations during primitive ectoderm formation: correlation of in vivo and in vitro pluripotent cell development. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Formation and differentiation of a pluripotent cell population is central to mammalian development, and the isolation, identification and manipulation of human pluripotent cells is predicted to be of therapeutic use.

Endocrine therapy reprogramming of breast cancer facilitates metastatic escape via upregulation of P-Rex1/Rac1 signalling

open access: yesNature Communications
The estrogen receptor (ER) drives growth in most breast cancers. Endocrine therapy reduces recurrence, however around 30% of cancers relapse. Many recurrences occur years later, with slowly proliferating, hard-to-treat disease. To study this, we generate

Stemness is derived from thyroid cancer cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2014
Background: One hypothesis for thyroid cancer development is its derivation from thyroid cancer stem cells (CSCs). Such cells could arise via different paths including from mutated resident stem cells within the thyroid gland or via epithelial to ...

Dynamics Of The Expression Of Pluripotency And Lineage Specific Genes In The Pre And Peri-Implantation Goat Embryo

open access: yesCell Journal, 2019
Objective Two critical points of early development are the first and second lineage segregations, which are regulated by a wide spectrum of molecular and cellular factors.
