Characterization of Sec14 Domain–Containing Proteins in the Malaria Parasite Plasmodium falciparum

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
During asexual blood‐stage development, P. falciparum Sec14 proteins display distinct localizations suggesting specialized roles in lipid exchange. PfSec14‐1 initially localizes to the nucleus before moving to the ER and Golgi alongside PfSec14‐4 during schizogony.

Established and Emerging Biomarkers to Characterize Persons at Risk for Obesity—Paving the Way for Targeted Clinical Intervention Trials—A Comprehensive Position Paper

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite all efforts, obesity remains a major health concern worldwide, with continuously increasing rates, affecting approx. 14% of the total world population, being as high as 43% in some countries. As obesity is related to numerous comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer, the consequences ...

QTL Mapping of Several Seed Quality Traits in the DH Population NPZ06 × NPZ09 (Brassica napus L.) for Marker‐Assisted Selection

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Enhancing nutritional quality of oilseed rape requires deeper insight into the genetic control of seed quality traits. This study analysed the effect of varying soil phosphorus (P) levels on seed quality traits in the hybrid cultivar Architect. NIRS and laboratory methods were used to quantify total seed P and phytic acid (IP6) content.

Unravelling the Intraspecific Variation in Drought Responses in Seedlings of European Black Pine (Pinus Nigra J.F. Arnold)

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding intraspecific variation in drought tolerance is essential for predicting the adaptive capacity of forest species under climate change. Yet, the molecular basis of this variation remains poorly understood in ecologically and economically important conifers.

Two proteins co‐expressed with photosynthetic regulators affect photosynthetic dynamics linked to changes in thylakoid pigment content and composition

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Two factors identified by co‐expression analysis of photosynthetic regulators are described, which are involved in thylakoid pigment content and composition and, through their function, shape the dynamics of NPQ. Abstract Rapid fluctuations in light intensity require swift regulatory adjustments of photosynthesis. Although the major plant regulators of
