Domiciliated Rhodnius prolixus and sylvatic R. colombiensis were analyzed in order to confirm their genetic divergence and verify the risk that the latter represents in the domiciliation process, and to provide tools for identifying the sources of ...

Modules identification in gene positive networks of hepatocellular carcinoma using pearson agglomerative method and Pearson cohesion coupling modularity [PDF]
In this study, a gene positive network is proposed based on a weighted undirected graph, where the weight represents the positive correlation of the genes.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

RPG: the Ribosomal Protein Gene database [PDF]
RPG (http://ribosome.miyazaki-med.ac.jp/) is a new database that provides detailed information about ribosomal protein (RP) genes. It contains data from humans and other organisms, including Drosophila melanogaster, Caenorhabditis elegans, Saccharo myces cerevisiae, Methanococcus jannaschii and Escherichia coli.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Ribosomal RNA Genes in Kluyveromyces marxianus [PDF]
DNA from the yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus was studied for its heterogeneity and the multiplicity of rRNA cistrons. These cistrons banded at a slightly different density from the bulk DNA in preparative CsCl or Hg2+-Cs2SO4 equilibrium density gradients.
