Dynamic Control of a Novel Planar Cable-Driven Parallel Robot with a Large Wrench Feasible Workspace

open access: yesActuators, 2022
Cable-Driven Parallel Robots (CDPRs) are special manipulators where rigid links are replaced with cables. The use of cables offers several advantages over the conventional rigid manipulators, one of the most interesting being their ability to cover large

Motion response characteristics of the longitudinal profile of a wave glider based on a multi-segment hinged rigid rod umbilical cable model

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
ObjectiveThis study aims to develop a dynamic model of the longitudinal profile motion of wave gliders by modeling the umbilical cable as multiple hinged rigid rods, and to investigate the effects of environmental and umbilical cable parameters on the ...

A Task-Space Form-Finding Algorithm for Tensegrity Robots

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A modified dynamic relaxation algorithm for the form-finding of tensegrity robots in task space is proposed in this paper. There are some form-finding problems of tensegrity structures that are hard to be handled by the node-based dynamic relaxation ...

Architecture‐Driven Sensor Stability in Weft‐Knitted Engineering Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Textile‐integrated sensor architectures are systematically compared to evaluate their electromechanical behavior under combined mechanical and environmental loading. Pocket‐based integration exhibits stable and reproducible signals, whereas tunnel‐based routing shows higher sensitivity accompanied by increased variability.

Biomimetic Design of a New Semi-Rigid Spatial Mesh Antenna Reflector

open access: yesBiomimetics
The reflective surface accuracy (RSA) of traditional space mesh antennas typically ranges from 0.2 to 6 mmRMS. To improve the RSA, an active control scheme can be employed, although it presents challenges in determining the installation position of the ...

Design of a Multistable Finger Prosthesis with Programmable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This research article shows the development of a multistable programmble metamaterial for the use as a finger prosthesis. The material was designed on different hierarchical levels where the influence of geometrical parameters and combination of mechanical elements was explored.

A new tailored design specifications for on-bottom stability together with additional stabilization of sub-sea power cable in shallow water

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
This study proposes innovative customized design parameters for Gulf subsea composite power cables deployed on dense sand and rocky seabed. Subsea power cables often lack design and stability criteria, unlike subsea rigid pipes, which follow DNV-ST-F101,

Design and implementation of a multi-degrees-of-freedom cable-driven parallel robot with gripper

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2018
Cable-driven parallel robots comprise driven actuators that allow controlled cables to act in parallel on an end-effector. Such a robotic system has a potentially large reachable workspace, large load capacity, high payload-to-weight ratio, high ...

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.
