Untranslated vesicular stomatitis virus messenger RNA after poliovirus infection

Virology, 1977
Superinfection of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-infected cells with poliovirus causes a complete inhibition of VSV-directed protein synthesis, followed by normal replication of poliovirus. The “shut-off” of VSV protein synthesis appears similar in all respects to the inhibition of host cell protein synthesis normally induced by poliovirus infection.

Evidence of putative non-coding RNAs from Leishmania untranslated regions

Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2017
Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are regulatory elements present in a wide range of organisms, including trypanosomatids. ncRNAs transcribed from the untranslated regions (UTRs) of coding genes have been described in the transcriptomes of several eukaryotes, including Trypanosoma brucei. To uncover novel putative ncRNAs in two Leishmania species, we examined a

RNA—protein interactions in the 5′ untranslated region of preproinsulin mRNA

Journal of Molecular Endocrinology, 1992
ABSTRACT A comparison between species of the 5′ untranslated region of preproinsulin mRNA revealed conserved sequences associated with a potential stem—loop structure. The present study was undertaken to determine whether specific protein interactions exist with mRNA sequences involved in the formation or stabilization of this structure in the 5 ...

Global estimation of the 3′ untranslated region landscape using RNA sequencing

Methods, 2015
The 3' untranslated region (3' UTR) of mRNA contains elements that play regulatory roles in polyadenylation, localization, translation efficiency, and mRNA stability. Despite the significance of the 3' UTR, there is no popular method for annotating 3' UTRs and for profiling their isoforms. Recently, poly(A)-position profiling by sequencing (3P-seq) and

RNA editing in an untranslated region of the Ginkgo chloroplast genome

Gene, 1999
mRNAs in plant cell organelles can be subject to RNA editing, an RNA processing step altering the identity of single nucleotide residues. In higher plant chloroplasts, editing proceeds by C-to-U conversions at highly specific sites. All known plastid RNA editing sites are located in protein-coding regions and, typically, change the coding properties of
