The role of stress in silent reading

open access: yesProceedings of the 2024 Symposium on Eye Tracking Research and Applications
A small parallel Croatian-English corpus was analyzed in order to study the role of implicit prosody in silent reading. Croatian and English are well suited for this purpose with English having a stress-timed prosody and Croatian being more of a syllable-timed language.

Roles of Autophagy in Oxidative Stress

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2020
Autophagy is a catabolic process for unnecessary or dysfunctional cytoplasmic contents by lysosomal degradation pathways. Autophagy is implicated in various biological processes such as programmed cell death, stress responses, elimination of damaged organelles and development.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Elongation factor 2-diphthamide is critical for translation of two IRES-dependent protein targets, XIAP and FGF2, under oxidative stress conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Elongation factor-2 (eEF2) catalyzes the movement of the ribosome along the mRNA. A single histidine residue in eEF2 (H715) is modified to form diphthamide. A role for eEF2 in cellular stress responses is highlighted by the fact that eEF2 is sensitive to

Stress and immunosenescence: The role of telomerase [PDF]

open access: yesPsychoneuroendocrinology, 2019
Chronic stress is associated with the accelerated aging of the immune system and represents a potent risk factor for the development and progression of a wide range of physical and mental disorders. The elucidation of molecular pathways and mechanisms underlying the link between stress and cellular aging is an area of considerable interest and ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Dynamics of a colloidal glass during stress-mediated structural arrest

open access: yes, 2010
We employ parallel superposition rheology to study the dynamics of an aging colloidal glass in the presence of a mean field stress. Over a range of intermediate stresses, the loss modulus exceeds the storage modulus at short times but develops a maximum ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Role of Stress in Progression of Migraine

open access: yesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENDORSING HEALTH SCIENCE RESEARCH (IJEHSR), 2014
