Crystal phase evolution of high temperature annealed Fe3O4‐CaO catalysts for biodiesel production
Abstract Biodiesel (BD) is an alternative transportation fuel that has been commercialized. Most CaO‐based heterogeneous catalysts that are applied for BD production become strongly deactivated after not more than five cycles of reuse. Predominantly CaO and Ca(OH)2 active phases in eggshell were mixed with Fe3O4 by ball milling for 3 h followed by ...

Calorimetric Study of Mesoporous SBA‐15 Modified for Controlled Valproic Acid Delivery
SBA‐15 ordered mesoporous silica functionalized with (3‐aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) was used as the carrier for anticonvulsant drug 2‐propylpentanoic acid (valproic acid). The surface of SBA‐15 containing free silanol groups was modified with 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane via postsynthetic reaction.

Industrial wastes may produce leachates that can contaminate the aquatic ecosystem. Toxicity testing in acute and chronic levels is essential to assess environmental risks from the soluble fractions of these wastes, since only chemical analysis may not be adequate to classify the hazard of an industrial waste. In this study, ten samples of solid wastes

Heavy Metal Ions Adsorption from Wastewater Using Activated Carbon from Orange Peel
Activated carbon obtained from orange peel (ACOP) was synthesized and used for the removal of heavy metal ions (Cr, Cd, and Co) from aqueous solutions. Two different adsorption models were used for analyzing data. Adsorption capacities were determined: copper ions exhibit the greatest adsorption on activated carbon orange peel because of its size and ...

Thermodynamic and Calorimetric Study of Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin) and Ibuprofen
Enthalpies of solution and dilution of aqueous solutions of sodium acetylsalicylic acid salt and ibuprofen salt were measured with an isoperibolic calorimeter at 293.15 K, 298.15 K, 303.15 K, 308.15 K and 318.15 K. The concentration of the electrolyte was restricted to the solubility of the salt at various temperatures and did not exceed 0.035–0.057 ...

On the Inhibition of the Reaction Between Anodic Aluminum Oxide and Water
The reaction between anodic aluminum oxide and several passivating solutions of citric acid and ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) is studied by capacitance measurements. In addition, the passivating effect of the above solutions has been evaluated by the reaction of the oxide with pure boiling water and subsequent anodization.
