Identification of a new polypeptide coded by reovirus gene S1

Journal of Virology, 1985
The reovirus S1 gene has recently been shown potentially to encode two polypeptides (from two overlapping reading frames) having predicted molecular weights of 49,071 and 16,143 (Nagata et al., Nucleic Acids Res. 12:8699-8710, 1984; Bassel-Duby et al., Nature [London], in press).

Neurospora crassa and S1 nuclease cleavage in hsp 83 gene chromatin

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1985
We have examined the distribution of Neurospora crassa and S1 nuclease cleavage products in the chromatin of the hsp 83 heat shock gene from the Drosophila melanogaster cytogenetic locus 63 BC. Both of these nucleases generate double strand breaks in chromatin at specific sites close to the 5' end of the hsp 83 gene. With N.

S1 and N Gene Analysis of Avian Infectious Bronchitis Viruses in Taiwan

Avian Diseases, 2004
The disease caused by infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) produces great economic for the poultry industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate the molecular epidemiology of IBV in Taiwan. An old IBV strain isolated in 1964 and another 31 strains isolated from 1991 to 2003 were selected for N-terminal S1 gene analysis. Based on their phylogenetic

Buffalo alpha S1-casein gene 5′-flanking region and its interspecies comparison

Journal of Applied Genetics, 2013
The expression of milk protein genes is tightly regulated in a spatio-temporal manner through the combinatorial interaction of lactogenic hormones and a set of transcription factors mediating developmental and tissue-specific gene expression. The recruitment of a unique set of transcription factors is determined by the cis-regulatory motifs present in ...

Cloning, characterization and overproduction of nuclease S1 gene (nucS) from Aspergillus oryzae

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1995
The nuclease S1 gene (nucS) from Aspergillus oryzae was isolated using a polymerase-chain-reaction-amplified DNA fragment as a probe, and a 2.6-kb SalI-EcoRI fragment containing the nucS gene was sequenced. It was deduced that the nucS gene had two short introns, 49 and 50 nucleotides in length. The nucS gene had an open-reading frame of 963 base pairs

Expression of the two reovirus S1 gene products in transfected mammalian cells

Virology, 1990
Reovirus genomic segment S1, which has been implicated in the viral inhibition of cellular DNA synthesis, is transcribed into a single mRNA that encodes two proteins, the approximately 49-kDa hemagglutinin, sigma 1, and the apparently nonstructural protein, p14.

Investigation of killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor gene diversity: IV. KIR3DL1/S1

Human Immunology, 2004
The polymorphic nature of the KIR3DL1/S1 gene complex has been investigated through the development of a polymerase chain reaction-sequence-specific oligonucleotide probes (PCR-SSOP) allele typing system. The KIR3DL1/S1 system was applied to a healthy group of Northern Irish individuals to establish allele frequencies within this Caucasian population ...

Phylogenetic Analysis of S1 Gene of Infectious Bronchitis Virus Isolates from China

Avian Diseases Digest, 2011
Between 2006 and 2009, seven strains of infectious bronchitis (IB) virus (IBV) were isolated from vaccinated chicken flocks on different chicken farms in China. The pathogenic characters of seven IBV strains were assessed. Each of the seven strains was infective to the test chickens and could induce an immune response.
