The Sinuclease protection procedure allows the precise definition of the beginning and end of gene transcripts as well as the position of intron/ exon boundaries in a gene. Alternatively, when these parameters are already known, the technique can be used to quantify transcript levels in a variety of expression systems.

Exon skipping in the ovine alpha s1-casein gene.
Comparative biochemistry and physiology. Part B, Biochemistry & molecular biology, 1997The reported cDNA sequences for the bovine (Bos taurus) and ovine (Ovis aries) alpha s1-caseins display a high degree of identity with the exception that a 24 bp region, corresponding to bovine exon 16, is absent in the ovine sequence. Here we show that the ovine gene for alpha s1-casein contains a sequence block displaying 23/24 identity to bovine ...

Structure of the gene encoding rabbit alpha s1-casein.
Gene, 1992The complete nucleotide sequence of the entire rabbit alpha s1-casein-encoding gene Aslca and its flanking regions was determined. These data represent the first complete primary sequence of an Aslca gene. The gene consists of 19 exons spread over 16 kb.

Selenoprotein S1: a novel inflammatory gene.
Zhong nan da xue xue bao. Yi xue ban = Journal of Central South University. Medical sciences, 2014Selenoprotein S1 (SEPS1), a novel gene involved in the stress response of endoplasmic reticulum and inflammation control. Recent results provide a direct mechanistic link between SEPS1 and the production of inflammatory cytokines, suggesting SEPS1 may play a major role in the mediation of inflammation in IDDM and some other immunological disorders.

Status of genes encoding the mitochondrial S1 ribosomal protein in closely-related legumes
Gene, 2007The rps1 gene, which encodes ribosomal protein S1 of the mitochondrial ribosome in flowering plants, is located in the mitochondrion of some but not all species, and this is assumed to reflect multiple gene transfers to the nucleus. We investigated its status in legumes and found that in alfalfa, sweet clover and fenugreek, the mitochondrial-located ...

Recombination between phage S1 and the TC-resistant gene on Staphylococcus aureus plasmid
Virology, 1976Abstract When bacteriophage S1 is grown in a Staphylococcus aureus strain carrying the nonconjugative plasmid rms7 that encodes tetracycline (TC) resistance, a phage lysate capable of transducing TC resistance at an extremely high frequency was obtained.

Molecular cloning and characterization of buffalo alpha(s1)-casein gene.
DNA sequence : the journal of DNA sequencing and mapping, 2008Buffaloes in Indian subcontinent play an important role as the producer of milk and milk products. The alpha(s1)-casein constitutes 38% of the total milk proteins. The present study was carried out to characterize the gene in Murrah breed of Riverine buffalo.

S1 Nuclease-Sensitive Sites in the Bithoraxoid Region of the Drosophila Ultrabithorax Gene
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1993The Ultrabithorax gene is required to specify the third thoracic and first abdominal segments of Drosophila melanogaster. Mutations in the bithoraxoid region, a 40 kb DNA stretch upstream of the Ultrabithorax promoter, affect cis-regulatory elements of the Ultrabithorax gene.

Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) is a swine enteropathogenic coronavirus that causes severe diarrhea in piglets, the development of novel vaccines is of great value in the prevention and control of PDCoV. Here, we selected attenuated Salmonella typhimurium SL7207 to deliver pVAX1-S1, resulting in the oral vaccine strain, SL7207 (pVAX1-S1). In immunized

A novel wheat S1-bZIP gene, TabZIP11-D, confers stress resistance in Arabidopsis
Plant Physiology and BiochemistryMost subgroup S1 basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factors (TFs) play a crucial role in the abiotic stress responses. However, their functions and molecular mechanisms remain poorly characterized in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In this study, we identified a novel subgroup S1 bZIP gene, designated TabZIP11-D, which was transcriptionally ...
