Effect of inositol starvation on glycerolipid metabolism in Saccharomyces uvarum
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1983Abstract The influence of inositol deprivation on glycerolipid metabolism in the inositol-requiring yeast, Saccharomyces uvarum , was determined by measuring the decrease in radioactivity of the major phospholipids after prelabeling cells with either [2- 3 H]glycerol, [1- 14 C]palmitic acid, [methyl- 3 H]choline or [ 32 P]orthophosphate.

AbstractSaccharomyces cerevisiae NRRL Y‐2034, S, uvarum NRRL Y‐1347, and Zymomonas mobilis NRRL B‐806 each were separately immobilized in a Ca‐alginate matrix and incubated in the presence of a free‐flowing and continuous 1, 3, 5, 10, or 20% (w/w) glucose solution. In general, the yeast cells, converted 100percnt; of the 1, 3, and 5% glucose to alcohol

Saccharomyces bayanus var. uvarum in Tokaj wine-making of Slovakia and Hungary
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2002Using genetic hybridisation analysis and molecular karyotyping we revealed an association of Saccharomyces bayanus var. uvarum species with Tokaj wine-making. Along with identification of Saccharomyces strains isolated by E. Minárik in Slovakia, the composition of Tokaj populations in Hungary was studied.

Considerable amounts of molecular and genetic data indicate that interspecific hybridisation may not be rare among natural strains of Saccharomyces sensu stricto. Although a post-zygotic barrier operating during meiosis usually prevents the production of viable spores, stable hybrids can arise which can even evolve into distinct species. This study was

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a nephrotoxic, immunosuppressive, teratogenic, and carcinogenic mycotoxin, secondary metabolite produced by species belonging to Aspergillus and Penicillium genera, mainly A. ochraceus, A. niger, A. carbonarius, and P. verrucosum. This ubiquitous mycotoxin is a contaminant of many foodstuffs, mainly cereals but also wine.

Genetic identification of Saccharomyces bayanus var. uvarum, a cider-fermenting yeast
International Journal of Food Microbiology, 2001Twenty-one Saccharomyces strains isolated from a cider process were analysed in terms of karyotypes, Y' S. cerevisiae sequence occurrence, rDNA structure and cross-fertility with species tester strains. A strong predominance of S. bayanus var. uvarum G. Naumov was found (18 strains vs. three S. cerevisiae). Among the S. bayanus var.

Interaction between Hanseniaspora uvarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae during alcoholic fermentation
International Journal of Food Microbiology, 2015During wine fermentation, Saccharomyces clearly dominate over non-Saccharomyces wine yeasts, and several factors could be related to this dominance. However, the main factor causing the reduction of cultivable non-Saccharomyces populations has not yet been fully established. In the present study, various single and mixed fermentations were performed to

KVANTIFICIRANJE SPOSOBNOSTI FLOKULACIJE KVASCA Saccharomyces uvarum
2010U radu su proučavane metode taloženja, odnosno flokulacije pivskog kvasca S. uvarum, putem Helmovog i Stratfordovog testa. Kod obje je metode proučavan utjecaj početne koncentracije stanica (inokuluma), miješanje, uzorkovanje i određivanje postotka istaloženih stanica.
