Isolation and Characterization of Protein Fractions for Valorization of Sacha Inchi Oil Press-Cake

open access: yesFoods, 2023
The growing interest in plant-based food protein sources has provided opportunities for the valorization of agri-food by-products, driving the food industry towards more sustainable development. In this study, three extraction procedures (varying the pH value (7.0 and 11.0) and the addition of salt (0 and 5%)) were investigated to obtain seven ...

Co‐Encapsulation of Purslane Seed Oil and Tarragon Essential Oil and Investigating the Use of It as a Natural Preservative and Functional Compound in Burger Formulation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study developed purslane seed oil–tarragon essential oil (PO–TE) nanocapsules using gum Arabic (GA) and whey protein isolate (WPI) as wall materials. The co‐encapsulation significantly enhanced oxidative stability, antimicrobial activity, and polyunsaturated fatty acid retention in beef burgers during refrigerated storage.

Oxidative Stability and Molecular Reactivity of Biodiesel from Castor and Cottonseed Oil Blends by Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
The oxidative stability of biodiesel from homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis of castor/cottonseed oil blends is studied. Castor oil's ricinoleic acid improves oxidative stability, acting as a natural antioxidant. Yet, HT catalysis led to lower stability due to catalyst leaching.
