Risk Factors and Coinfection Dynamics of Pathogens in Wild Turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) From Pennsylvania, USA

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We determined the associations and risk factors of infection by lymphoproliferative disease virus (LPDV), reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV), three avian Mycoplasma species, and internal parasites in Pennsylvania wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo). Active surveillance of parasites and pathogens was conducted over four years and four regions across ...

Uncovering the Key Factors Influencing Phytochemical and Phytopharmacological Properties During Medicinal Plant Processing

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
From farm to pharma, this review details the engineering of quality in medicinal plants through a science‐driven approach: it first elucidates how genetic and environmental factors inscribe the plant's phytochemical and phytopharmacological profile before harvest, and then dissects the postharvest techniques and technologies—chemical and thermal pre ...

Nexus of Whey Proteins, Gut Dysbiosis, and Colonic Health

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Whey proteins possess antimicrobial and prebiotic properties that modulate gut microbiota by promoting beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium while suppressing pathogens. This modulation enhances short‐chain fatty acid production and strengthens intestinal barrier integrity, potentially alleviating dysbiosis‐related conditions such as colitis and ...

Metabolomic Analysis of Phytophthora parasitica Growth in the Presence of β‐sitosterol Indicates Adaptive Mechanisms Modulated by Sterols

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 66, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Phytophthora parasitica is a generalist phytopathogenic oomycete that infects a series of crops with great economic interest, including tomato, tobacco, and citrus species. Sterols are essential lipids in eukaryotic organisms, playing a fundamental role in the structure and function of the cell membrane.

Salmonella spp. atsparumas antimikrobinėms medžiagoms

open access: yes, 2018
Šio darbo tikslas nustatyti ir įvertinti Salmonella spp. bakterijų atsparumą tam tikroms antimikrobinėms medžiagoms. Tyrimas buvo atliekamas kiekybiniu mikroskiedimų metodu, 96 apvalių šulinėlių su liofilintomis antimikrobinėmis medžiagomis plokštelėse, nustatomas bakterijų atsparumas antimikrobinėms medžiagoms in vitro.
