Raf-1 is activated by the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitor, SB203580 [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1999
SB203580 (4‐(4‐fluorophenyl)‐2‐(4‐methylsulfinylphenyl)‐5‐(4‐pyridyl)1H‐imidazole) is widely used as a specific inhibitor of p38 mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK). Here, we report that SB203580 activates the serine/threonine kinase Raf‐1 in quiescent smooth muscle cells in a dose‐dependent fashion.

Norepinephrine inhibits cell cycle re‐entry of neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes characterized by the absence of de novo nestin expression [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
The p38α/β MAPK inhibitor SB203580 in the presence of a phorbol ester (protein kinase C activator) induced cell cycle re‐entry of two subpopulations of neonatal rat ventricular cardiomyocytes (NNVMs) distinguished by the absence or de novo nestin ...

The volatile oil of Acorus tatarinowii schott significantly attenuates neuroinflammatory damage in a rat model of tourette syndrome by inhibiting the p38 MAPK/NLRP3/STAT3 signaling pathway [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundAcorus tatarinowii Schott holds a prominent position in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with its earliest record found in the ancient Chinese pharmacopeia, the Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica.

Role of the MAPK pathway in human lung epithelial-like A549 cells apoptosis induced by paraquat [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2020
This study aims to investigate the value of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) for paraquat (PQ)-induced apoptosis in human lung epithelial-like A549 cells and the specific mechanism. A549 cell apoptosis were induced by PQ.

Reduced parasite motility and micronemal protein secretion by a p38 MAPK inhibitor leads to a severe impairment of cell invasion by the apicomplexan parasite Eimeria tenella. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
E. tenella infection is associated with a severe intestinal disease leading to high economic losses in poultry industry. Mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are implicated in early response to infection and are divided in three pathways: p38 ...

SB203580—A Potent p38 MAPK Inhibitor Reduces the Profibrotic Bronchial Fibroblasts Transition Associated with Asthma [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2021
Subepithelial fibrosis is a component of the remodeling observed in the bronchial wall of patients diagnosed with asthma. In this process, human bronchial fibroblasts (HBFs) drive the fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition (FMT) in response to transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), which activates the canonical Smad-dependent signaling.

Peripheral Injection of SB203580 Inhibits the Inflammatory-Dependent Synthesis of Proinflammatory Cytokines in the Hypothalamus [PDF]

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2014
The study was designed to determine the effects of peripheral injection of SB203580 on the synthesis of interleukin- (IL-) 1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)αin the hypothalamus of ewes during prolonged inflammation. Inflammation was induced by the administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (400 ng/kg) over 7 days.

In vitro modeling of COPD inflammation and limitation of p38 inhibitor - SB203580.

open access: yesInternational journal of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 2016
Systemic inflammation and steroid resistance are the hallmarks of COPD. We examined the impact of p38 inhibitor (SB203580) in in vitro assays of systemic inflammation using pulmonary cells and patients' sera.Data from 66 COPD patients and 15 age-/sex-matched healthy controls were compared.

APPLICATION OF INHIBITOR ANALYSIS FOR STUDYING MECHANISMS AND ACTIONS OF POLYMURAMYL, A MURAMYL PEPTIDE-BASED IMMUNE MODULATOR

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2014
In present study, the following low-MW inhibitors were used to dissect mechanisms of action for two muramyl peptide components of Polymuramyl, an immunomodulatory drug: (1) N-acetyl-D-glucosaminyl-(β1→4)-N-acetyl-D-muramoyl-L-alanyl-D-isoglutaminyl-meso ...
