The p38 MAPK inhibitor SB203580 differentially modulates LPS-induced interleukin 6 expression in macrophages

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Immunology, 2015
The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) plays a key role in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced signal transduction pathways that lead to inflammatory cytokine synthesis in macrophages; however, whether the inhibition of p38 MAPK regulates LPS-induced inflammatory cytokine expression in different types of macrophages remains the subject of debate.

Programmed Cell Death in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent upper respiratory condition characterized by a multifaceted etiology involving various cellular and molecular processes. In recent years, researchers have increasingly recognized the significance of different forms of programmed cell death (PCD), such as apoptosis and pyroptosis, in the pathological ...

Smads, p38 and ERK1/2 are involved in BMP9-induced osteogenic differentiation of C3H10T1/2 mesenchymal stem cells [PDF]

open access: yesBMB Reports, 2012
Although previous studies have demonstrated that BMP9 is highlycapable of inducing osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymalstem cells, the molecular mechanism involved remains to be fullyelucidated.

AKR1B1 Represses Glioma Cell Proliferation through p38 MAPK-Mediated Bcl-2/BAX/Caspase-3 Apoptotic Signaling Pathways

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2023
This study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member B1 (AKR1B1) in glioma cell proliferation through p38 MAPK activation to control Bcl-2/BAX/caspase-3 apoptosis signaling. AKR1B1 expression was quantified in normal

Santamarine Synergizes With Cisplatin via ROS/JNK Axis to Selectively Induce Apoptosis and DNA Damage in Oral Cancer Cells In Vitro

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 87, Issue 4, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Santamarine (SAMA), a Michelia compressa‐derived sesquiterpene lactone, exhibits ROS‑mediated anticancer activity; however, its potential mechanisms and synergy with cisplatin in oral cancer have not been explored. This study investigated SAMA and cisplatin's combined effects and underlying ROS/MAPK mechanisms of action on oral cancer cells ...

The roles of p38MAPK and caspase-3 in DADS-induced apoptosis in human HepG2 cells

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2010
Objectives To explore the function of p38MAPK and caspase-3 in DADS-induced apoptosis in human HepG2 cells, and discuss the signal transduetion mechanism of HepG2 cells in the apoptosis process induced by DADS by using the inhibitors of p38MAPK (SB203580)

Reduction of Insulin-Stimulated Glucose Uptake in L6 Myotubes by the Protein Kinase Inhibitor SB203580 Is Independent of p38MAPK Activity [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinology, 2005
AbstractInsulin increases glucose uptake through translocation of the glucose transporter GLUT4 to the plasma membrane. We previously showed that insulin activates p38MAPK, and inhibitors of p38MAPKα and p38MAPKβ (e.g. SB203580) reduce insulin-stimulated glucose uptake without affecting GLUT4 translocation.

AMSC‐sEVs Ameliorated Crohn's Disease by Inhibiting Macrophage‐Myofibroblast Transition Through the Delivery of MFGE8

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 6, June 2026.
Our study demonstrated that TGF‐β1 activated MAPK signalling pathway and promoted the MMT and secretion of CCL17 under CD‐associated intestinal inflammatory conditions. AMSC‐sEVs can deliver MFGE8, which inhibits MMT and CCL17‐mediated Treg recruitment by suppressing the MAPK signalling pathway, thereby alleviating intestinal fibrosis.

Evidence for the involvement of p38 MAPK activation in barnacle larval settlement. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The barnacle Balanus ( = Amphibalanus) amphitrite is a major marine fouling animal. Understanding the molecular mechanism of larval settlement in this species is critical for anti-fouling research.

ETV4 Promotes Colorectal Cancer Progression by Reprogramming Asparagine Metabolism to Remodel the Stromal Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
ETV4 coordinates a dual transcriptional program by upregulating MET and asparagine synthetase (ASNS). The resulting asparagine (Asn) secretion acts as a metabolic signal, reprogramming hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and primary cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) toward an inflammatory phenotype. These activated stromal cells release HGF to sustain the
