p16Ink4a‐Positive Hepatocytes Drive Liver Fibrosis Through Activation of LIFR Family Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 17, 23 March 2026.
This study found that, following the long‐term CCl4 treatment, p16high hepatocytes appeared in zone 3, spatially co‐localizing with fibrotic areas. A specific cluster of p16high hepatocytes upregulated CTF1/LIF expression which induced HSC activation and further liver fibrosis, as revealed by single cell transcriptomic analysis.

Activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase and p38 after cerebral ischemia upregulates cerebral sodium-glucose transporter type 1

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2018
Cerebral ischemic stress increases cerebral sodium-glucose transporter type 1 (SGLT-1). However, the mechanism by which cerebral ischemia leads to the up-regulation of SGLT-1 remains unclear.

p38MAPK inhibitor SB203580 sensitizes human SNU-C4 colon cancer cells to exisulind-induced apoptosis

open access: yesOncology Reports, 2006
Sulindac sulfone (exisulind), is a promising anticancer agent because of its ability to induce apoptosis in a variety of malignant cell types and its minimal toxicity to normal cells. The induction of apoptosis is thought to account for the growth inhibitory effect of exisulind. The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade has been implicated in

Multifacet Roles of Cellular Senescence in Cancer: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Cellular senescence shapes tumor progression through both antitumor and protumor mechanisms. Senescence triggered by telomere shortening restricts malignant transformation and limits tumor cell proliferation, while the senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP) secretion enhances antitumor immunity by activating cytotoxic T cells.

Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 12, 27 February 2026.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

The p38 MAPK Inhibitor SB203580 Abrogates Tumor Necrosis Factor-Induced Proliferative Expansion of Mouse CD4+Foxp3+ Regulatory T Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
There is now compelling evidence that tumor necrosis factor (TNF) preferentially activates and expands CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) through TNF receptor type II (TNFR2).

DEL‐1 is an Endogenous Senolytic Protein that Inhibits Senescence‐Associated Bone Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 12, 27 February 2026.
Senescent bone marrow stromal cells accumulate in the aging bone microenvironment, promoting bone degeneration. DEL‐1, an endogenous secreted protein, acts as a natural senolytic that selectively eliminates these cells. By engaging a β3 integrin/CD73/adenosine/p38 MAPK/BCL‐2 pathway, DEL‐1 counters aging‐related bone loss, revealing promising ...

Role and effects of p38MAPK pathway inhibitors on Pinctada fucata martensii after Vibrio parahaemolyticus infection

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The SB203580 inhibitor, a blocker of the p38MAPK pathway, has been widely studied for bioimmune applications. To investigate its immune effect of Vibrio parahaemolyticus on Pinctada fucata martensii, the key genes, PmMKK6 and PmCREB, downstream of the ...

Single‐Nucleus Multi‐Omics Reveals Hypoxia‐Driven Angiogenic Programs and Their Epigenetic Control in Sinonasal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 12, 27 February 2026.
Single‐nucleus multi‐omics profiling of sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma unveils a hypoxia‐driven angiogenic axis. A specific hypoxic tumor subpopulation orchestrates endothelial tip cell differentiation via epigenetically regulated ADM and VEGFA secretion.
