Sugar Makes Fat by Talking to SCAP [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Cell, 2015
Elevated blood glucose promotes lipogenesis via activating SREBP transcription factors. Tumors exhibit increased glucose uptake and lipogenesis, but the mechanisms controlling this are poorly understood. In this issue of Cancer Cell, Cheng and colleagues find that glucose activates SREBP by stabilizing SCAP, a central regulator of the SREBP pathway.

NETosis is critical in patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Pneumonia is the fourth leading cause of death globally, and the reason for the high mortality rate of patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP) remains elusive.

Suppression of AKT-mTOR signal pathway enhances osteogenic/dentinogenic capacity of stem cells from apical papilla

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2018
Background Stem cells from apical papilla (SCAP) are a subpopulation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) isolated from the apical papilla of the developing tooth root apex of human teeth.

SCAP-subalgebras of Lie algebras [PDF]

open access: yesCzechoslovak Mathematical Journal, 2016
A subalgebra H of a finite dimensional Lie algebra L is said to be a SCAP-subalgebra if there is a chief series 0 = L 0 ⊂ L 1 ⊂... ⊂ L t = L of L such that for every i = 1, 2,..., t, we have H + L i = H + L

Dose-dependent effects of siRNA-mediated inhibition of SCAP on PCSK9, LDLR, and plasma lipids in mouse and rhesus monkey[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2016
SREBP cleavage-activating protein (SCAP) is a key protein in the regulation of lipid metabolism and a potential target for treatment of dyslipidemia. SCAP is required for activation of the transcription factors SREBP-1 and -2.

Effect of bFGF on the growth and matrix turnover of stem cells from human apical papilla: Role of MEK/ERK signaling

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2020
Background/Purpose: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) exhibits multiple biological functions in various tissues. Stem cells from apical papilla (SCAP) can be isolated from human apical papilla tissues in developmental teeth of children.

MiR-497-5p Regulates Osteo/Odontogenic Differentiation of Stem Cells From Apical Papilla via the Smad Signaling Pathway by Targeting Smurf2

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2020
Osteo/odontogenic differentiation is a key process of human stem cells from apical papilla (SCAP) in tooth root development. Emerging evidence indicates microRNAs (miRNAs) play diverse roles in osteogenesis.

Scap is required for sterol synthesis and crypt growth in intestinal mucosa[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2015
SREBP cleavage-activating protein (Scap) is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein required for cleavage and activation of sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs), which activate the transcription of genes in sterol and fatty acid ...
