Neuronal Cholesterol Deficiency Mediated by Astrocytic SREBP2 Downregulation Leads to Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction Through Impairment of Hippocampal Synaptic Plasticity and Excitatory Synaptic Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

Modelling thin film solar cells with graded band gap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper discusses how graded absorber structures in CIGS-based solar cell can be studied using the numerical simulation tool SCAPS. A model will be built for an AVANCIS solar cell with double grading which is produced with the laboratory line process.
