The Role of Wnt Signaling in Age‐Related Alveolar Bone Loss and Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract summarizes key signaling pathways involved in bone formation and resorption associated with Wnt signaling across young and aged long bone and jaw tissues. Levels of evidence are indicated as robust, moderate, or emerging, reflecting the current experimental support in each context.

Recent Progress in Osteocyte Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The last decade has seen an exponential increase in our understanding of osteocytes function and biology. These cells, once considered inert by-standers trapped into the mineralized bone, has now risen to be key regulators of skeletal metabolism, mineral

Inflammation and mechanical force‐induced bone remodeling

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Periodontitis arises from imbalanced host–microbe interactions, leading to dysbiosis and destructive inflammation. The host's innate and adaptive immune responses produce pro‐inflammatory mediators that stimulate destructive events, which cause loss of alveolar bone and connective tissue attachment.

Sclerostin Promotes Bone Remodeling in the Process of Tooth Movement. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Tooth movement is a biological process of bone remodeling induced by mechanical force. Sclerostin secreted by osteocytes is mechanosensory and important in bone remodeling. However, little is known regarding the role of sclerostin in tooth movement.

Role of key players in paradigm shifts of prostate cancer bone metastasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Prostate cancer is one of the most common human cancers and bone metastasis is a frequent finding in the natural history of several types of cancers. The molecular mechanisms that makes prostate cancer metastasize to bone have recently been identified, and

Molecular pathophysiology of chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder: Focus on the fibroblast growth factor 23–Klotho axis and bone turnover dynamics

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder (CKD‐MBD) is a major complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD), characterized by disruptions in mineral metabolism, abnormal bone turnover and vascular calcification, which collectively increase the risk of fractures and cardiovascular disease.

Sclerostin Blood Levels Before and After Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2014
Background/Aims: Sclerostin is secreted by osteocytes. As a circulating inhibitor of the Wnt-signaling pathway it inhibits bone formation and contributes to the development of osteoporosis.

LRP4+ Astrocytes: A Unique Subpopulation Crucial for Blood Vessel Maintenance and Function in the Somatosensory Cortex of Normal and 5xFAD Mice

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 2, February 2026.
Lrp4+ astrocytes, uniquely vessel‐associated and GFAP−, are enriched in the pia. They support laminin‐α5+ basement membrane assembly and regulate vessel diameter and blood flow. They are reduced in 5xFAD brains, and their ablation worsens both vascular and Aβ pathology.

Genetic variation in Wnt/β-catenin and ER signalling pathways in female and male elite dancers and its associations with low bone mineral density: a cross-section and longitudinal study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The association of genetic polymorphisms with low bone mineral density in elite athletes have not been considered previously. The present study found that bone mass phenotypes in elite and pre-elite dancers are related to genetic variants at the Wnt/β ...
