Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors: An Overview

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology, 2021
Over the past decade there has been a crescendo of interest in the role of the serotonin system in mediating both anxiety and depressive disorders. Researchs has provided therapeutic compounds that are selective for re-uptake blockade in the serotonin ...

Expression and microvillar localization of scavenger receptor class B, type I (SR-BI) and selective cholesteryl ester uptake in Leydig cells from rat testis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
: This study investigates the relationship between the high density lipoprotein (HDL) receptor (scavenger receptors, SR-BI and SR-BII), selective lipoprotein-cholesteryl ester uptake, and testosterone production in Leydig cells of control ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Growing gold nanostructures for shape-selective cellular uptake

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
With development in the synthesis of shape- and size-dependent gold (Au) nanostructures (NSs) and their applications in nanomedicine, one of the biggest challenges is to understand the interaction of these shapes with cancer cells.

Chronic cocaine increases κ‐opioid receptor density: Lack of effect by selective dopamine uptake inhibitors

open access: yes, 2002
Continuous infusion of cocaine or the selective dopamine uptake inhibitors GBR 12909 or RTI‐117 increases locomotor stimulation, to which partial tolerance occurs.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Bile acids reduce endocytosis of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in HepG2 cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
High-density lipoprotein (HDL) transports lipids to hepatic cells and the majority of HDL-associated cholesterol is destined for biliary excretion. Cholesterol is excreted into the bile directly or after conversion to bile acids, which are also present ...

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
