Sema3A regulates the timing of target contact by cranial sensory axons
Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2004AbstractThe trigeminal ganglion provides the somatosensory innervation for the anterior rat tongue. At early embryonic stages (embryonic day [E] 12–13) pre‐tongue explants repel trigeminal axon outgrowth, and this is mediated by Sema3A (Rochlin and Farbman [1998] J. Neurosci. 18:6840–6852; Rochlin et al. [2000] J. Comp. Neurol. 422:579–593).

PIEZO1 Promotes Odontoblast-Mediated Reactionary Dentinogenesis via SEMA3A
Journal of Dental ResearchLocated at the interface of the dentin–pulp complex, the odontoblasts are specialized cells responsible for dentin synthesis and nociceptive signal detection in response to external stimuli. Recent studies have shown that the mechanosensitive ion channel PIEZO1 is involved in bone formation and remodeling through the influx of ...

Sema3A and NGF in regeneration of sensory axons
2013Regeneration of nervous system is complex and complicated process that involves neuron survival after injury as well as elongation of neurites and their guidance to final targets. Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) sensory neuron axon growth is highly impeded when they encounter neuronal growth cone-collapsing factor semaphorin3A (Sema3A) in both regeneration ...

Sema3A [corrected] resists retinal revascularization.
Blood, 2011In this issue of Blood, Joyal and colleagues make the insightful finding that Semaphorin3A (Sema3A) is secreted by hypoxic neurons in ischemic/avascular retina, thereby inhibiting vascular regeneration of the retina and enhancing pathologic preretinal neovascularization.
